I have found Winaero Tweaker to be an excellent tool. Has anyone else found it useful? By the way, I see in the latest Release Notes & Screenshots that "Disable Telemetry" has been implemented. Not that I feel the need to disable it.
I've checked it out, I don't really need any of the tweaks. Well, except for one, I noticed you can tweak "drag and drop" of files. Can you perhaps check if you can tweak Windows to automatically move (not copy) files from one drive to another? On my system I use a SSD and HDD combo, but when I drag and drop files (from SSD to HDD) it copies the files.
Absolutely! I find that Windows 10 and Winaero Tweaker go hand in hand. His reputable tool fixes the majority of Windows 10's shortcomings and/or fixes things which MS removed. I would highly recommend it. His blog is fantastic as well which covers in detail steps to manually achieve most things that his software does for those who like to do stuff manually.
@Rasheed187 Here is the blog which explains how that option works in his tool plus how to do manually. Link: http://winaero.com/blog/set-the-default-drag-and-drop-action-in-windows-10-windows-8-and-windows-7/
Nice tool! Only thing it doesn't fix are keeping features Microsoft might change or remove in future updates. Only way to prevent that is to disable Windows Update service.
@Hadron @WildByDesign any observation/comment regarding TweakBit (Auslogics) that advertises on Winaero..?
Well, RECOMMENDED: PC Repair Tool link at top advert that looks official vs Download: Winero Tweaker at bottom, may direct traffic and catch a few.
I have used the various tools from Tweaking.com for years , and I recommend them without reservation. Shane does superb work , and the forum is exceptionally friendly and helpful . I haven't tried Winaero , but from what I see in this thread , it looks good for W10 users , ..... so I'll probably never know -
Q: how to change back to W10 defaults or my W10 Settings, prior to Winaero Tweaker portable launch. Since, you're fans....maybe suggest to developer, add restore point prompt before launch, before change. I've wiped Winaero Tweaker. Thanks
Where is this, on the site? I used winaero to remove the arrow from shortcuts on desktop on a virtual windows 7 32 bit to see how it would go and it seems OK. Does anyone know of any source for extra icons which are free of any adware etc.And how to add them to %windir%\system32\shell32.dll .The windows icons are boring and limited, seem the same as xp days.
Winaero Tweaker 0.7.0.1 can disable ads in Windows 10 Link: http://winaero.com/blog/winaero-tweaker-0-7-0-1/ This is a nice update with expanded options for blocking ads in Windows 10. I've used Winaero Tweaker for as long as I've used Windows 10 and I could not imagine using Windows 10 without this tool, ever.
You have to run the regular installer executable (after extracting the zipped archive), then it gives you the choice between installing or extracting portable to a directory of your choice.
Winaero Tweaker lets you configure Windows 10 the way you like it. I was able to reinstall the classic games and sticky notes that used to be included in earlier editions of Windows. A must have!
