Looks like Google shut down many of the apps from the Chrome web store. On another note Google added several new employees ;).

Well they should have never made it to the store, this is proof that Google should do a better job to make sure that extensions are not malicious. BTW, another thing that I don't understand is why HIPS and AV's are still not able to alert about (or block) extension installation.

Eagleget: Your thoughts were right then! I remember we talked a bit in a different thread.
Well I ditched it a while ago, as I moved to FF and Linux.

Yes, I have quite a lot of experience with all kinds of apps, so I can already smell a fishy app from far away. If I'm correct, I posted my concern about EagleGet installing a driver, normally a DM shouldn't be doing this. I did use Orbit Downloader for years, but I only allowed it to inject code in a separate browser (not the main one) because of the risk involved, and later Orbit did turn into sneaky malware, so my gut feeling was right.

    Odd.
Browser extensions with no apparent privacy being used in a browser which is often touted as having no privacy.

Bit of an enigma, would you not agree.?

Another example of a rogue extension, that was able to make it to the Chrome Store:

If I understood correctly, it installed an extension that are bad for privacy. I'm not sure if it still does.
