A friend picked up this. Is it real or just a scam? Meaning nothing harmful on computer. If it does indeed infect will this remove it>>> http://www.howtouninstallamalware.com/how-to-uninstall-rdnyahlover-worm055bccac9fec-malwarevirus-and-adware-windows-xp7810
Appears to be a scam based on this: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/184393-trojan-worm-rdnyahloverworm055bccac9fec/
So NOT an infection? That computer has slowed to a crawl. I have not seen it, but will go over in a few days to take a look. I am also wondering if that download removal Tool is legit.
It is possible it is a legit malware worm. McAfee has a sig for it and appears the other major also have sigs for the real malware. The McAfee write-up is here: https://home.mcafee.com/virusinfo/virusprofile.aspx?key=9594900#none . Best to run a full scan with a major AV product; also MBAM should/might detect it. If nothing found and problems persist, time to head to one of malware removal sites; bleepingcomputer.com, malwaretips.com, for a review and help. My opinion on the "grayware" security solutions - forget they exist
