For me W10 is excellent. No problems whatsoever. Runs better than any previous OS's that I own..but it all comes down to personal preference..

In my opinion Windows 10 is the best OS Microsoft has ever released.

I would have to agree, at least so far. And from the looks of the insider previews, it is going to get better. I am rather surprised by all of the sites where they complain "how dare Microsoft try to give me a free upgrade". When the free year is over I bet a lot of people that get left behind will start to wonder why they turned it down. All of these "Windows 10 is malware, spyware, etc." are a bunch of clickbait sites and have run articles like this every time there is a new OS. I particularly remember when XP came out and they all cried about the DRM and spyware and product activation and the like. It's just another round of the same thing.

Exactly , most of those critics are made by people with no clues about how an OS works. The same ones complaining and blocking Win10's telemetry (OMG Win10 spy on me !!! ) , are the same complaining why MS can't give them a better "user experience"...

on my machine, Win10 work flawlessly. No more "unknown" BSOD like i had in Win7 , faster boot, all my hardware's drivers integrated already.; etc...

After playing with it a few months, Windows 10 holds little interest for me and I've returned to the stability and familiarity of Window 7 for any serious use of Windows. I just replaced one of my business computers. The OS of choice, Windows 7 Ultimate. Applocker was one of the important considerations but better drivers was also important.

Ok, it works well and I like it. But I understand that there are people who do not want or can not upgrade, and they have that right. I know that the upgrade is not mandatory, but I must say that this marketing is ridiculous. Unfortunately, I know that any relative of mine would do this upgrade, willingly or not, because they have difficulties in tinkering in the system settings.

I love Windows 10, like some users said, it runs better than any previous OS that I tried in the past.

    Haters gonna hate as always.

I love Win10 too. I just wish it was as pretty as Win7 with Aero included.

I test Win 10 in VM and it seems to run OK. After disabling unnecessary features and components (as I do with any version of Windows) it runs great (I specially like ENT LTSB version). Since WIndows 7 is supported till 2020 I will wait and see what will be their licencing model before I decide if I will use it.
When it comes to forcing and tricking users to upgrade, yes, that's where GWX behaves similar to malware.

Have you noticed that now windows 10 windows defender can not be turned off by any antivirus. Its always on and runs unless you turn its shields off. Also windows 10 is no-longer that smooth as older windows and even windows 8 was. I mean slightly. this is with win 10 pro 64bit.

So I have since moved to linux peppermint 6.

It can be disabled in group policy or by manually editing the registry. Any AV can do that upon installation. There are control issues in Windows 10 compared to any previous Windows version but they are not insurmountable. Figuring out how to disable the parts of it I don't like was kind of fun but for anything resembling productivity, Windows 10 is not my OS of choice by any means. I would rather be using an OS, not fighting with it.

nope. I tried avast, AVG, Comodo IS and a few others and when you check windows defender from control panel you see its active. Also yes you can disable it manually but the AVS that I tested it did not disabled it.

Usually when you install an antivirus it will or should disable windows defender.

@taleblou, if you have a third-party anti-malware product installed and it turns off Windows Defender, when you try to run WD it comes up with the message below. It is also greyed out in the Update & Security section of Settings.

That is what should happen. I suspect something's not right at your end.

don't know, this issue started after latest major version upgrade to 10.1 from 10. SO ever since that big update it turned like that. Anyway I am on linux and if I decided to go back to win 10, will install a fresh formatted copy and see if the issue repeats or not.

Windows 10 definitely behaves like malware. If it weren't for all the spying features and current bugs, it would be one of the best OS's Microsoft ever made.

It's currently loaded with bugs, nonsense control panels, it's the NSA wet dream, the user doesn't nearly have as much control over the OS, etc. But aside from that, it's a very well-buit OS in my opinion.

I used 10 since the start. Alfa, Beta even RC were great, RTM is a disaster. I hate 10 with all my soul. :cautious: XP and 7 RIP, I will always remember you. :'(
