I just tried visiting the Peer Block Website, and it says "you have reached a website that has been suspended". I checked with isitdownrightnow.com, and it reports that it has been down for at least 2 days. Does anyone know what happened?
Maybe someone forgot to pay the bill, who knows. Edit: Other reasons: Violation of the Terms of Use, Server Resource overusage,...
I hope the project is continued. Peer Block has not had any updates in some time now. There are plenty of reported bugs that have gone unfixed.
There's Revolt which is based on Peer Block if i'm not mistaken. It's not free. It did not sound too appealing to me. There is a thread on it here. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/bot-revolt-peerblock-peerguardian.353145/
The last version from PB is over 2 years old. If the website is down for the next days (or weeks), then we will know for sure that the project is abandoned. For Linux PeerGuardian can be used and it's actively developed, but i know no real windows-alternative.
It's weird that there's been so little development over the past several years. It had a huge user base, and it's open source. I'm not sure how many users are using it now. I hope it's not been abandoned.
