Hai! So I build my first good security setup: Operating System: Windows 10 OS Edition: Pro OS Architecture: 64-bit User Access Control: Yes OS Firewall: Enabled OS Updates & Security Patches: Automatic OS App Reputation: Enabled (Smartscreen / Gatekeeper) Password-Protected User Account: Yes Recent Malware Attacks: No Participate in Malware Hub: No. Should I? Real-time Malware Protection: avast! Free Antivirus, paid SpyShelter, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit On-demand Malware Scanners: Comodo Cleaning Essentials, Stinger, MBAM, SUPERAntiSpyware, Panda Cloud Scanner, Spybot, F-Secure Online Scanner, BitDefender SafePay, SpywareBlaster, Clam Win Portable, Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit, Adwcleaner, Avira PC Cleaner, Malicious Software Removal Tool Security Product Settings: Custom Browsers and Extensions: Adblock Plus, Lazarus: Form Recovery, MEGA, Scan Url with, Security Plus, WOT (Firefox) Password Manager: KeePass AdBlocker: Adblock Plus Privacy Cleaners, System Tuning and Encryption: CCleaner, TrueCrypt, IOBIT Uninstaller, Eraser, PWGen - recommend antother Data Backup: Custom Backups System Image Backup: Custom Backups But it just doesn't work. avast! is just too heavy and incompatible and the whole concept is just bad, making my computer slow. Please, help me update it :-( I am a gamer. So - any ideas? First, I need a antivirus. I just love avast! and I will probably come back to it, but it's not much compatible with other SW and it's not the lightest neither. I would just love to use Quihoo 360 but I am worried about privacy. Firewall - stay with Zone Alarm or try some other as you guys recommended? I need anti logger I think - I use internet banking etc. - but SpyShelter makes my computer escpecially laggy. So I switched back to Zemana AntiLogger, it should be compatible with W10 they say. I also need anti-exploit and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium is very light so I will stay with that. I enabled password on my PC. Any ideas? Or should I use one big solution like Kaspersky Internet Security? Please give me your ideas !
Holy crap! You must be joking, or do you realy have installed all that stuff on one computer? If it's true, my recommendation is to format c: and start all over again. Then stay a while and read the other threads.
Yes, I checked the "What is your security setup these days?" first thing I saw: " Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home (Premium) Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (Free) HitmanPro HitmanPro Alert CryptoPrevent User Account Control (Don't notify me when I make changes) Windows Defender Windows Firewall SpywareBlaster SuMo Updater Secunia PSI WinAntiRansom" That's really not much different. Nice cat BTW :-D
Golly! Why would you need that much? What do you do for a living? Testing millions of malware per day to see if they can penetrate 3000 layers of security? :O First, avast is not that great. Pick Avira Free as your resident scanner. Then, stick to only one anti-exploit. I'd say Malwarebytes. Then use only one Anti-Malware. MBAM Premium is good. Then use a HIPS module. COMODO's fine. Then ditch all the rest.
I know it's too much - that's why I am changing it. I ditched everything. As resident I would like to use Quihoo 360 as it contains Avira core, what about that? I am sticking to Malwarebytes in both cases. COMOD is great! Sadly, it caused me some issues in the past and it's kinda heavy, too many pop-ups, and I don't feel enough expirenced to propely configure it.
I tested and it was great! Also folks I know had amazing results. They also score usually on top in independed tests (AV-LAB). Quihoo is my choice ! My only problem was with privacy, but that's like with everyting - Kaspersky = RU spying on me, others = USA spying on me, etc...
A lot of Free/Paid software will collect data, nearly all, just review their Privacy Policy / EULA... Fake testing? Not really: "In short, Bitdefender's anti-malware engine was much better at reliably detecting the malware in tests done by the testing agencies, but - in Qihoo's home market of China - Bitdefender's engine was disabled by default, and Qihoo's own is used instead." I enable all enginges. Default turned off engine is not cheating for me really. What about that spying? I don't know about that.
Currently running: Qihoo 360, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium, Zemana AntiLogger. Still looking for fiewall. Maybe I will uninstall Zemana, I will see. My questions: Qihoo 360 offers free GlassWire firewall, should I install it? Is it good? Do I need HIPS? Which? Is there a good firewall with HIPS except COMODO?
I use only Norton Security and WinAntiRansomware. I don't care to try to piece together a bunch of stuff and later try to figure out why my computer doesn't run properly. I would spend more time putting together a rock-solid recovery plan. Series of system images, file backups, cloud storage, etc.
@Snoper all you need is common sense, a modified solid browser (search the forum for tips on that), ublock0 (+ umatrix), (and a reputable free av, if you like), and regular system backups on a removable disk. if you're on win 7 and later, that is. may add sandboxie free to that list, if you like.
