For all I know, it doesn't. You must click the disk Icon on the dash side-pannel. At least that's how it was until 13.04.

Why would it do that? o_O
You could manually check the lastest files on a particular drive, though I don't think it's necessary. A simpler way is to just un-plug all other drives that are not going to participate on the install process.

    hi
on the dash panel i have all my volumes , do you think it doesn't mount ?
i have to click on it to mount

    i have installed too , on a data disk , one partition for windows , and 500mb /boot 250Gb / and 3 gb swap

because before installing it scan for a lot of time all my drives ,included external hard disk

is there a program to let me edit which program run at startup ?
Slingscold,Mutate & Plank Dock for example

    thanks amarildojr

Exactly. I think you still have to click on them to mount them. So they're not mounted by default.

Wait. So are you talking about different DRIVES (physical hard disks) or different PARTITIONS?

Yes. All Linux installers that have Graphical Interfaces do this so that they can check where they can or cannot be installed, whether the same OS already exists so it can give you an option to re-install, etc.

You mean after installing the system? I'm almost sure Ubuntu already has that. Search on the Dash for "Startup" and you should see a menu called "Startup programs" or something like that. There, you can check what runs at startup.

You're welcome. Just note that I'm not an expert on Ubuntu, so there are a few areas where I might be wrong.

To disable automount, dconf editor might work for 15.04. It seems to work for my 12.04 LTS derivative (Lite).

funny you should ask, because on my Lite 1.08 installation (based off of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) it never was automounting my other drives by default. However, when I opened dconf editor the first two automount options were shown enabled

You're welcome, glad it works for you. AFAIK, it should not leave miscellaneous files on other drives, but I don't know for sure. Not an Ubuntu expert in the least, either. i just stumbled upon the dconf editor suggestion.

yeah, there might be other factors at play here, such as /etc/fstab file overriding the dconf file? Just a guess, of course.

Yeah, I'd assume fstab has priority too.

I was looking for this the other day too. Linux mint and am assuming ubuntu has tool called "disks" in applications menu/setting

Click on partition you want to stop from auto mounting

more actions/ edit mount options /automatic mount options /off

Iv done this for ntfs volumes, Windows 10 C: and System Reserved
