Surprised, a loyal user of OP is willing to go over to KIS/KAV, without a wimper.
Saw it cumming when they were handing out life-time licenses like candy.

 

Oh dude you dont know how loyal!!! They(Agnitum) reached out to try and take care of us/we/them for a little while
while we/me/you..ect.. found a good fit for something in the future/..I am not defending the course Agnitum took..thats thier business
I will continue to use Outpost sweet until its driven into the ground and then some...may never ever touch this KAV software
but 'Circuit' you bet I am going through the motions and download it..may give it as a gift if I see fit..

 

KAV is actually really good on the AV side, just not so much on the firewall/HIPS side. KAV licenses typically take effect when installed, so you could probably sit on it for months and still get full use out of it.

I really like the tough, old school, firewalls and HIPS like Outpost. There are so few of them left. Its a pity that we lost one of the best.

 

Another loyal Outpost user. Disappointment. I've am a long time user of Outpost. This news, which I received yesterday via Outpost Security Suite news notification really saddens me. It's like loosing a long time friend. I have a free license I got years ago as thanks for being a beta tester, I have a certificate hanging on my wall from Agnitum and have a gifted Outpost polo shirt that I think I will wear today. Last June I renewed my Family Pack license for two years.

This offer of KAV? Yuck. At least it's not Norton or MacAfee. I will take them up on the offer, after all I still have a year and a half left on my Family Pack license.

Like @hayc59, I will continue to use Outpost until in no longer does the job. I expect that will be well past the expiry of the KAV software.

 

That's about the same as what I plan on doing...I'm sad, was thinking of replacing it after the 9.2 handle/support issues [makes more sense now] but haven't yet found a suitable replacement. It's rather unique. :/ KIS while good in ratings has never measured up to what I need. The closest thing I've found (that's not discontinued) is SpyShelter but I'm still not sure what I'm going to do when the time comes that Outpost can no longer properly protect my Win 7 PC. I was considering an upgrade to an NTLited Win 10 anyhow so perhaps I'll focus on finding something that does everything I need it [and will be supported] to do there instead. =( sad sad days. /cry Farewell ol' friend.

I had hoped that things wouldn't take this turn but 1/3 isn't that bad. Speaking of, Sandboxie (the 1/3 that still supports the product after it was bought out) will be holding a 40% off sale starting sunday some time. If you were thinking of nabbing it and just waiting for a sale (like some people I know) this would be a great time to get your lifetime license!

Yes, one cool shirt. I went to exchange one of my license today. This is the scary part ""Yes, I hereby agree that my Outpost license key will be blocked after confirming the exchange.". I stopped at that point.

Good Afternoon! hayc59...I went to the link you provided to Agnitum and entered my license it accepted the license and e-mail link and confirmation of wanting too proceed with the Kaspersky Migration. Then a page emerged showing what appeared to be the Kaspersky Keys. I don't want or need Kaspersky at the moment but Might entertain using them in the future. So I Saved the info...from the Agnitum link in my Favourites...problem is when I went back in to check the saved info nothing appeared. So in terms of protocol does Agnitum forward the info to Kaspersky to have Kaspersky forward us the offered Keys via our provided e-mail addresses? Very strange! Haven't yet received a confirmation e-mail from Kapersky...What to do! Sincerely...Securon

 

@Securon You should receive an email from Agnitum titled "Your Kaspersky Internet Security license" with your license. I recevied the email right away.

 

Like roger stated it should have come quickly(e-mail) I got mine seconds later..check your spam folder if you have one or wait
and see what gives??

i removed OPFW & reinstalled OSS with my traded in 'lifetime' key. it installed OK, activated OK, appears they have not (as yet) deactivated my key. looks like it will continue to work. after the updates stop on the 32st of december, it will then be adviseable to install a third party antivirus/antimalware to stay fully protected on that front, and disable the then obsolete funtions in OSS. i personally am reverting to OPFW & using my lifetime key for that which i have not traded in.

i suggest it's best get your keys for kaspersky while the offer is still good, and not install till the 31st of december (or when the do turn off the updates). but don't hold me to that if it all goes pear shaped.

 

Hey, it was said that "Lifetime license and license expiring in 2017 2-year license to Kaspersky Internet Security 3 PC (you will receive two subsequently activated 1-year license keys)". I remember long time ago that you got a life time license as well, correct me if I am wrong. Did you receive two "activation keys", one key for 1 year? As far as I know, activation keys for Kaspersky products have a grace period after issue, after which it will start activate itself and start counting the license period. I would wonder if they would issue activation keys that allows you to activate it one year after your first year of license expires.

And by the way, Kaspersky activation keys are country specific, that means you need to match the activation keys with the installer and the country which created the installer. As far as I know, each country wholesale agent will create its unique installer with its unique set of activation keys. I wonder such migration keys would allow the users to activate the installer in any countries.

 

I had a lifetime license for Outpost Firewall and I made the exchange . Since a couple of months ago I bought a license of Kaspersky Internet Suite I would insert the keys that I received as late as possible . How long can I wait to you? How long are the licenses valid ?

 

The traded activation code is Kaspersky Internet Security - Multi-Device (available for both PC & Mac, and even Android devices - which was not specified in Account Center), I guess those codes are "global version activation codes", there's no geo-restriction nor language-restriction (at least with English UK/US and Vietnamese version as I tested).

i've been informed by agnitum that the deal with kaspersky is a trade, not free, so your traded outpost licence key WILL be terminated. also the KISS key or keys must be activated this month.

 

I doubt that. It's not out of the question, but it breaks from the philosophy of both companies. Companies say a lot of things that turn out to be untrue.

Outpost doesn't use activation servers. They are old school key-only activation, so the firewall and HIPS will work. The only thing they would do it blacklist the key on the AV update servers, and even that would surprise me.

On the Kaspersky side, most keys have no limit on when they are activated. This might be the case, though, if Kaspersky activates the key when issued.

 

It was said in the e-mail that the keys must be activated by the end of Jan 2016? And cannot be activated in Feb 2016?

 

That sounds like the key acquisition period to me.

 

The migration information appears to be misleading and contradictory because it was added that

"Kaspersky Internet Security license should be activated before January 31, 2016."

This statement was not there the first day, and was added thereafter. However, the point is that, it offered two separate keys for a 2-year license. If the license should be activated before 31 Jan 2016, it also means that the 2 year key will also need to be activated before 31 Jan 2016. This would end up with having only 1 year license, with 2 keys activated at the same time in parallel.

If you need to activate only one key and "ADD" another key, that key would only be activated when the first key is expired after one year, and it contradicts the requirement that the license should be activated before 31 Jan 2016

 

@Chubb Both keys need to be entered as per the instructions in the license email from Agnitum

the agnitum site is now saying you must trade by the 31st of jan. 2016, and must activate by 17th of february, 2016.

Wayne, our support service is working as usual. Probably someone has confused it with Store page that says the sales has been stopped. We have dedicated support staff working at Agnitum (not Yandex) to address all incoming quires. Yes, I confirm my words that we are going to fix serious issues and updates AV database until the end of the 2016.
