    Interesting, but what about the Edge engine, will that be available to other companies like Maxthon? Strange that this still isn't clear.

    maxthon switched from trident to gecko to webkit (anytime fallback to trident).
    google left webkit in 2013 and uses since leaving blink as part of chromium - chromium<>webkit.
    webkit is outdated, present is webkit2.

    who cares about mathon?

    I don't care about Maxthon, but from a technical point of view it would be interesting to know if the Edge engine will be available to anyone who wants to develop their own browser shell, just like was possible with IE Trident.
