When registering at https://www.mastercardidtheftalerts.com/ (MasterCard ID Theft Protection) you obviously has to enter your email-address. No problem. You may get a report that looks like this. I wonder, what is meant with IDEMAILADDR ? Sure it is ID email-address but I vainly tried to find what this is supposed to mean. Does anyone out there have a clue? Thanks! =
Yes, that's what I wrote/guessed. However,t I am unsure about the meaning behind it. What I want to say: is this warning or something? Am I supposed to take any action? Where does it come from? Where to find more info about this? When it says 'Compromised email address' - my email and then Match this ID Email address - then what? Then again, maybe it is nothing.. =
Well your e-mail, credit card number, etc. can still be compromised even if you don't receive any alerts. For instance, if I stole the password database for a popular website, then technically every account username, e-mail, and password stored in the database is compromised. But you may not see an alert associated with that database yourself for days, weeks, months, and sometimes years. The recent OPM breach has affected quite a few people that I know and despite being offered identity theft protection, the number of government employees reporting incidents is mixed. Some have not see activity, while others have. So I think this is trying to tell you that your identity associated with this e-mail address is compromised. It might not be abused to day or tomorrow, but you are being warned so you can start monitoring for reports or any other other indicators. Just my interpretation, but you might want to contact the company providing the service to find out.
Thanks for the information. You obviously know a great deal more about this issue than I, perhaps you can answer wiwul's question.
You could always have a look here https://haveibeenpwned.com/ Info about this site https://grahamcluley.com/2013/12/check-youre-victim-database-breach-pwned/
It means your account id is the e-mail address shown. It appears with some of these identity service providers, you can change your actual e-mail address but your account id will remain the e-mail address you used to set up the account.
