How can I completely remove the unlocker from a WD MyBook? I want to just use the drive as a storage drive in my desktop.

Have you tried formatting the drive? Typically USB drives comes with a similar software that formatting removes.

Yes, I've formatted it, but still there is the unlocker and WD mybook software on it, that seems to be locked on it.

I can't help with the WD , but I know for a fact that it's the case with some flash drives.

I contacted Integral regarding the same issue on their USB sticks .

They were very helpful ( prompt response etc ) but the answer was a definitive " No ,
it cannot be removed " , but they did not give any technical details so I am still non the wiser.

Is there a separate partition in disk management that holds the unlocker software?

It looks like it may not be able to be removed: https://community.wd.com/t/how-to-remove-wd-unlocker/8121

Yes, that's what I was afraid of. I'll figure it out. I'll try some different tools.
