    Hi.
Need a little help here, please, as email notification of a reply failed - and, yes, I have checked my Spam bin.
It's a Gmail account, should that be of any interest.

This is the settings I chose, tho it was on a white page as I recall. No matter, the settings appeared unchanged.

I discovered this, as well, today. Not sure if it's relevant, but I have now checked the box where "replies" is mentioned.

    Thanks for any help.

Btw, the "Preview" button now works like "Upload a File". ?? Weird..

    Also weird:
Yesterday I had email notifications regarding a Thread I'm 'watching', but none such today.
AND, my Alerts report 2 replies to the thread when the is more like 20.

The watched thread system does not send an email for all posts made to a thread. It sends only one email (and gives one alert) until you visit that thread again while logged into your account. You got the multiple alerts/emails because you were on the forum, active in the thread, when those first replies were made. The watched thread system is not a reader subscription service, and will not send all the content added to a thread to someone. Read more about that in this thread:

I think I've been stuck on MS forums too long, trying to sort out Win 10. Tho, that being partly community based help, it was important not to miss anything which might prove useful.

It makes sense now, thank you. If I read an email notification deciding it's not relevant to my question and don't log on to the forum, then I won't receive any more. And I do now recall other forums using the same system.
However, you also say one alert. Well, there was two when I logged in and both referring to the same thread.
Presently I'm watching two threads and both gotten replies, there is only one alert for each thread.
So now I'm wondering, if I failed to notice one alert before logging out; Would a second alert for the same thread be produced next time I logged in?

Anyway, I'm not especially interested in watching a thread unless it happens to be a very specific topic I want to follow.
What I do want, on the other hand, is email notification of any direct replies to my posts. Is that possible to set up?
In the HitmanPro.ALERT Support and Discussion Thread, for example, any further responses to my question might easily be overlooked.
Not that I'm expecting any, tho it is possible. It is an example only. I can see I might get an Alert when someone quotes me (which would be good practice in such a thread as that), but I can't see any suggestion of an email notification in the event.

Up front... Sorry to say, but I am not a frequent visitor. Nothing to do with your website.
Your website/forum is really perfect, definitely so! My compliments for that.
It is just I don't have many questions to ask I guess.

That said, the above policy, i.e. to send just 1 mail when someone replies, well, it would be nice to at least have an option to receive feedback
every time someone comments on a thread one is subscribed to. I.e. default current situation, option: get notifcations of all comments
    (or something like that)

Due to pressure of other business/matters, one may easily forget about the question asked.
It could be that a question has a lower priority in the day to day work.
So people may add comments, but the TS does not check the question(s)or just a few days later.
That may look a bit 'rude' to the other users, who are taking time to respond, whereas TS is not reacting.

    Personally..
I would like to be informed of each posting. I don't mind receiving a number of notification.
After all, in the inbox mail it is easy to select all similar titles and delete all except the last one,
so as to keep the mail inbox a little clean.

But then again, that is my personal opinion.

    Thanks
    =

I agree. The option would be great.
For example, (beta) updates to the Hitmanpro.Alert program are posted frequently and it is an inconvenience to check the thread every day - or, I plain forget. So, I'm missing opportunities to report how they run on my system.
It's a nuisance as well to have to check through pages of posts for possible replies to mine.

There does exist some similar option on the (I think) MS forum I mentioned. You can choose 'type' of notification - 'digest' (once daily), or 'instantaneous' (every post). As I seem to recall, anyway. Tho.. That does remind me of a "mailing list" I once joined.

I guess it's not a matter for Wilderssecurity in any case, but for the producers of the forum software.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is an option within the forum software though and can be set by the administrator. Usually forum software includes lots of features that can be 'configured/set' by the administrator. For instance: edit or delete after posting (this is often disabled), 'auto-save' your post, logout time (oh, I hate that last one, I usually make a clipboard copy of the text, before clicking on the [Post] button, uploading a file directly from the pc, display as thumbnail (some forum software show images full-sized, affecting the 'readability' of your post, etc.etc.)

Oh, btw, a nice feature, new to me...
select/mark a text -then a small popup shows up with [Reply]
that part will then be quoted.
Really nice, I wasn't aware of that.

I'm afraid there are no configuration options for providing additional notifications. What I wrote in post #3 above is its maximum functionality. The options I do have are to set less than it does now. Notifications can be reduced to not include a copy of the posted content, just a link to it. And, it can be set to not send on replies at all, just new threads in a forum section. But, that's it. There's no "send every reply to member without them clicking into the forum at all."
