This thread should be continuation of the older thread. If Mods wish they can merge this with the earlier reopened thread!

Guys, you remember Nano Antivirus? Its in beta till date, probably the longest running beta testing in software history. :D Its now Windows 10 compatible, and they have also released a new product NANO Antivirus Sky Scan for Windows 10. Anyone using it till date?

Last changes [Version 0.30.24.68819 Beta (25th Aug, 2015)]

    • New in the version:
      • By user request the command-line interface was added.

      • The new universal “light” installer was developed. Now it is enough to download the small online installer to install the latest version of NANO Antivirus.

      • The interface is completely redesigned.

      • Added enhanced mechanism to detect and block malicious and fishing links.

      • Added capability to scan libraries (available in Windows 7 and higher).

      • Added support of configuration with more than one monitor (display).
    • Enhancements and changes:
      • Completely remade the update mechanism. This allowed to significantly decrease the resource usage during the upgrade process, as well as to reduce total update time and reduce the amount of occupied disk space.

      • Significantly improved detection of malware for Java.

      • Improved detection of malware for Mac OS X.

      • Changed method of calculation of the update progress. Now the graphical reflection of the update is more correct.

      • Optimized web guard. Now the content of the browser tabs will load faster.

      • Improved file guard. In particular, fixed some issues with working with shared folders on corporate networks.

      • Completely changed trusted zone. Now it is possible to add applications and web addresses.

      • Improved game mode. Added the ability to disable scheduled updates in game mode. Also during the game NANO Antivirus sound notifications won't be played.

      • Fixed bug which led to redisplaying of requests about already cured files.

      • Fixed an issue with slow launching of the "World of Tanks" game on a PC with installed NANO Antivirus.

      • Improved removable media scan mode. Now NANO Antivirus reacts correctly if a phone is connected to a PC for charging, not for data transferring.

      • Increased the antiviral complex stability.

      • Fixed a number of errors and added a number of enhancements.

Didn't knew that Nano Antivirus was tested once by Virus Bulletin. [August 2013 : Windows 7 Professional]

It is a common tactic, especially employed by companies that produce multiplayer games, to leave the software at beta stage. So they can tell you it's still in beta after they mess up something. I hope it's not the case with this AV.

But the beta tag won't attract common users even though it is free, because there are so many free stable alternatives available, from reliable companies.

The thing is beta is only written at version number part, on the way to the download page I didn't see any beta tags or warnings.

Nah! No warning is there, but you don't get to use the software like normal free ones. After you install it, you will be given an option to register your name and email to test the product, else enter activation key (can't be purchased, but required for offline use).

I would clearly state the product is beta and either would limit download access with a password or produce a popup when the download button is pressed. However from what you told, at least it doesn't look like the developers are trying to take advantage of anything, which is nice.

No, they are not :). They gave me only a 3 months license for beta testing, not a forever license.
