The youtube video they link to in the last page or so was uploaded on Nov 18, 2009 when ChromeOS was based on Ubuntu.

Google switched to Hardened Gentoo as the core of ChromeOS in February 2010. They took the most difficult linux distro to install and made it into the simplest distro.

It's definitely an interesting product. They should make a tablet running that. The flip is pretty close but I don't think the keyboard can be detached.

But that would be directly competing against Android!

I honestly believe in the long run that Android will become mostly like ChromeOS. You can already use any Android app on ChromeOS https://developer.chrome.com/apps/getstarted_arc

ChromeOS is bulletproof and Android is showing itself to be much less secure. Monthly security updates that Nexus devices will be guaranteed to get but between the manufacturer with a huge blob overlay and carriers it's doubtful that anywhere near 100% of other manufacturers will get the updates. It can already take forever for 3rd party phones to get a system update and many phones are abandoned pretty early in their useful life which is a shame.

Really imo iOS and Nexus are the only phones to consider well maybe Cyanogen and Black phone also.
