Hi all Kaspersky Free Antivirus is in a Beta Version available see this link http://malwaretips.com/threads/kaspersky-free-antivirus-beta-thread.50398/ With best Regards Mops21
I remember when they had a free version 6. I think it was sponsored by AOL. I had it installed on several people's machines until they killed it off.
Yep, AOL Antivirus Essentials or something of the sort. They also supplied the engine for the crappy "Defender 10 in 1" antivirus that Target sold for like $5.
So another Big player that releases a Free AV ...... also McAfee coming soon, where is Bitdefender with their Free " not yet compatible " for Win 10 ?! In a few months the battle of the freebies on AV-Test
Currently it has File, Web, Mail & IM protection & Kaspersky Secure Network as per Google translate on malwaretips.
The paid AV has no proactivness as well. I'm worried less and less about classical protection (av, sandbox) but more and more about the OS itself and open source vs proprietary, and ISPs, and ... I think I just crossed some border and find myself in paranoid territory... and you know what? It feels very nice in here .
I think this is great news. You could use Kaspersky's free AV, with COMODO's HIPS and Firewall settings. It's the combo of a great antivirus engine with a great firewall, Sanbox, and HIPS product, all for free
Yeah it was great, except wasnt that one of the versions that permanently hosed CHKDSK. The only way to fix it was to format your hard drive. Never used a Kaspersky product again since.
Really? Doesn't the paid version have setting in "General" called "Perform recommended actions automatically"? I remember Kaspersky constantly making pop-ups when I disabled it. Though it might be cause I was using the Internet Security at the time.
Kaspersky has sth called proactive defense (kind of a BB), rollback capability and application access limit restriction if I recall correctly.
