My Kingston DataTraveler 101 G2 flash drive won't mount. In Linux Mint 17.02 file manager, when trying to open it, I get this message: The file manager does read that its location is: Code: /media/luis/USB drive
It might be a shot in the dark, but you could try opening a terminal and enter: sudo fdisk -l You'll need your administrative credentials to initiate the command. See then if you can access its contents from the file manager.
One thing I loved about Mint is that its really Ubuntu so all the Ubuntu info online applies to Mint. http://askubuntu.com/questions/525243/why-do-i-get-wrong-fs-type-bad-option-bad-superblock-error
Thanks AutoCascade, I found the answer at the site: Going to the Linux "disks" application. Clicking the USB drive I was trying to mount in the devices section (window left). Clicking more actions under the Volumes filesystem partition section (two little gears right of the minus/plus signs). Clicking edit mount options (top of the mount options window). Clicking to TURN ON Automatic Mount Options.
I find that using Disk Utility is a great tool for Linux to help solve these kinds of problems, in addition to using the command line approach, as it is most useful as root by first creating a mount point directory, and then issuing the mount command of the device file to that mount directory. -- Tom
I've been throwing some distros on usb drives lately to try them out and had to format them with gparted to get them back to being mounted. Not sure why though.
