Hi may i ask you if you have you used DoNotSpy10 to disable many features of w10 ? http://pxc-coding.com/portfolio/donotspy10/
HitmanPro and HerdProtect didn't find any malware after running this. Might just be a ploy from MS to keep people from running it. I'm not for sure though.
No ploy. Re: http://www.urlvoid.com/scan/pxc-coding.com/ https://www.virustotal.com/en/url/1...280d50f7d076802f2fb67844/analysis/1438876811/ http://zulu.zscaler.com/submission/show/613c3c12d77506a2cb4dc4abe895e976-1438878479
Nonsense; I used DoNotSpy10 and works great. There's no phishing on that website, no viruses or hidden trojans inside DoNotSpy10. Yes, you may got a virus/malware warning when you download it but because the setup comes with OpenCandy offers that are EASY to opt-out. What's more, you don't even need to install it if you unpack it using UniversalExtractor or Inno Setup Unpacker. Why is so bad everywhere? Because MS doesn't like it and doesn't want to give you the privacy that you deserve.
Neowin removed the link (not the article) to DoNotSpy10 after the comments reported what is mentioned here : OpenDNS blocking the url on the ground of a phishing threat. On another hand some users having downloaded it reported that they had encountered no issue. No idea where the truth is, so reading this thread is informative. I haven't installed Windows 10.
That's what I read elsewhere as well. But then why such a fuss against this application? I cannot imagine OpenDNS manipulated. OpenDNS is not accustomed to blocking sites that deliver applications bundled with OpenCandy (too many of them!) so its grief must be elsewhere.
FWIW, it appeared that the developer also created some license alteration type programs which are available at the same website. So it may not just be the DoNotSpy10 program that is contributing to URL based flagging by antimalware tools(?). Also, the program itself makes it possible to disable some things that can/may be of benefit from an "ordinary security first, infosec and privacy second" POV. Having said that, elsewhere someone made an interesting comment. Pointing out how bizarre it is to install a program that is bundled with software of concern to the privacy sensitive, from a website marked as distributing malware/PUP, all for the purpose of eliminating privacy reducing features in another piece of software. Given that some bundled programs, and the way they are bundled, can result in a bite even before you see the opt-out checkbox, the "unpack it first" suggestion would seem to have merit. To those who are intent on trying it.
FYI. Notice that we did not remove the URL, just de-linked it as a precaution. Scumware.org shows the .exe as a PUP: The title "Confuser" could be inherent in the code, perhaps to make it harder for Microsoft to detect the .exe.
Quite pertinent comment. It would be interesting to know how this site was flagged or not, OpenDNS included, before it offered the DoNotSpy10 application. But I read a bit of the developer's pedigree cursus before and it doesn't appear indeed to be that of Snowwhite.
Pardon any possible naivete on my part, but does DoNotSpy10 accomplish any more than a Windows 10 user can accomplish via changes in Settings? The only thing I can find that DoNotSpy10 does, that can't be accomplished in Settings, is changing a few things in the registry and disabling writing to a log file (or files). All of the foregoing, it seems, can be accomplished simply by following the instructions at this link --> https://fix10.isleaked.com/#12 (instruction #7). Comments welcomed and appreciated.
CODYQX4 from MDL is working on a project right now. I have full confidence he will make the ultimate script to achieve privacy on Win10: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/63796-Windows-10-Privacy-Settings-Automated-Info-Request Stay tuned.
Very interesting stuff: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/63874-REPO-Windows-10-TELEMETRY-REPOSITORY
I've got a ton of respect for how thorough those guys/gals over at MDL are and also how they all seem to work together as a community.
Yep, they sure do a great job. I have been visiting them from 2009. Did you guys see this thread? http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/63733-PLEASE-READ-Microsoft-and-Privacy I would suggest to read the whole thread, which is currently at 17 pages.
