hi, the little 4-paned Win10 notification showed up in my tray this morning despite fact that i have set Windows Update to "never check for updates." i have also noticed in the past that connections are made to akamai.com as soon as i turn on my mobile connection even tho again Windows Update is set to never check. any opinions on this? (M$ just do whatever they like?)
I have also noticed this as well. I have uninstalled the update and hide it from Windows Update and I still get it.
even if you hide the update you will get it again with the next batch of updates. i have now had to hide it three times.
May be related to former updates in the scope of "getting ready for Windows 10" ... which have nothing to do by the way with security. Here (Windows 7 x64) I've forbidden (or removed) -- set to hidden -- so-called Windows Update ... updates as follows : KB2830477 KB2990214 KB3013531 KB3021917 KB3035583 KB3068708 KB2952664 Now, this is for information only. I strongly advise anyone who would decide to remove above mentioned updates to think twice. What I can say is, on my system, I experience no Windows 10 recall or whatever. Also, even though I've hidden KB3035583, this update regularly comes back on Patch Tuesdays, even if unchecked. I'll install or not Windows 10 once I will have seen how it deploys elsewhere. Before that I have no intention of being pushed to embrace the new king. I have not only Windows Updates set to ask, but disabled. I enable it when I know updates are available, either on Patch Tuesdays (make it Wednesdays since I have a look on the Web about the new patches - remember those which broke?) either when I discover that an out-of-cycle update has been released by Microsoft. Otherwise, WinUpdates service is closed (set to manual).
lol, i had the tray setting on it to "hide icon and notifications" and today i see it again and its now set to "show icon and notifications" shameless i wouldn't mind trying Win10 if i could keep my Win7 OS but im guessing thats not possible. if they siad pay us $200 and you can have any and all OS from XP to Vista to 7 to 10, i might do that but $100-$200 per is kind of pricey.
thanks for this list btw. somehow they snuck #3035583 onto my system even though im pretty sure i had it hidden. btw Reddit says this: Part 2: In order to make sure Windows doesn’t install KB3035583 again with the next round of updates, in Windows Update settings make sure “Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates” is not checked. This will make sure the update will be listed under the “Optional” updates and no longer automatically installed (which is probably how it got installed in the first place.)
Unfortunately, changing that setting doesn't guarantee you'll get the result you want. MSFT has a bad habit of changing an update's significance from day to day. You'd best fully examine the offerings before installing them. For me, KB3035583 has been offered as optional, recommended or important a number of times and has been removed (by MSFT) from 'hidden' a couple of times.

Same here concerning KB3035583 : hidden but offered nevertheless unchecked. Concerning Windows Update's "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates” unchecked, mine is checked and yet KB3035583 is presented optional.
hehe, the title is the best. btw does anyone know if say you used images to switch between Win7 and the Win10 upgrade then you should be able to roll back? you could use either with the same OEM product key on the same machine? then i might be interested.
