I had tried Claws Mail a long time ago but have been too lazy to try it again recently. So how does it compare with Thunderbird in your opinion? Advantages/disadvantages?

It's much lighter. It ain't pretty, but I appreciate it's spartan functionality without bloat.
Excellent IMAP handling with my many accounts.
Vastly configurable. Faster than webmail, Gmail.
It has basic plug-ins that I require, such as Spell Check, HTML viewing (when occasionally required), V-Calendar, etc.
(I've used in the past: Courier, Eudora, InScribe, TBird, Mulberry, Pegasus, Sylpheed, and many others.)
I'll not say it is better (or even as good) as TBird, but it perfectly suits my needs.

Thanks again! I've just added the Claws ppa to Kubuntu and installed it. Those videos will certainly be helpful.

Can Claws present attachments as thumbnails? Because Thunderbird can not (at least that I know) and that's quite a flaw to me; I often fail to view the small notice down there at the bottom. (I know I can use the option Display Attachments Inline but that will still show PDFs as a bottom notice).

After playing around with it I found
1 it only displays plain text. I'm sure there are good reasons but to me it's just stupid.
    2 It's very buggy.
3 I wasted half an hour of my time.

Thanks for the info about the update, otherwise I wouldn't have notice that my favourite mailer (Sylpheed) got an update as well :)

    1) Plain text display is by design, as HTML formatted emails are a security issue.
HTML formatted emails CAN be viewed with the HTML Viewer plugin.
However, you cannot SEND HTML email.
    2) I've found it one of the most stable / least buggy clients out there.
    3) Then move on. There are plenty of alternatives.

1 There should be an option for HTML (without plugins) otherwise it's stupid. Not being able to send HTML is beyond stupid.
2 At least in Windows it's buggy, very much so.
3 I'm not moving on I'm staying with Thunderbird.
