You guys are kidding me right, can y'all play this video? Without any extensions it does work, but with ABP, Ghostery and NoScript it's a no go. I even added certain exception filters in ABP, and disabled Ghostery, but still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Try allowing

    brightcove.com for the first

    amazonaws.com for the second

    Rasheed,

I am able to play this particular video with ABP and Ghostery enabled, but you are right, occasionally some videos on some website will not play. I have found that the main culprit is Ghostery and not ABP with default filters. ABP only creates such problems when you have EasyPrivacy filter installed.

Unfortunately the only way to play these videos is to either temporary pause Ghostery or create a white list for that website in Ghostery. For me Ghostery also creates problems on some Bank and Credit Card websites, so I always pause it when I have to check my accounts online.

If you are looking for permanent solution, to these problems then I am afraid you will be disappointed. Every time Ghostery's filter list or ABP EasyPrivacy filter list gets updated, you will encounter these problems on random websites. A price you pay for trying to protect your privacy.

Thanks for the feedback. And yes, it can be a bit frustrating sometimes. I think I will dump either ABP or Ghostery. I do wonder if perhaps NoScript is the culprit, I will do some more testing.

    Thanks I will try that.

FWIW ~ Usually, I'll temp allow as little as possible by NoScript > then ABP > then Ghostery. I can usually leave Ghostery alone. I do have 'click to play' checked.
Note: Ghostery is under re-write and has not updated since mid June.
I had to temp allow brightcove too...

If you can play the video, I'm guessing it's somehow related to ABP. But I noticed that Ghostery already blocks most ads, so perhaps I don't need a replacement. On the other hand, ABP is handy to block certain objects.

AT5 Heitinga-vid: 2 trackers according to Ghostery. No need to allow them. Maybe Bluhell Firewall (as Ad-Blocker and Tracking/Privacy Protector) blocks certain trackers before Ghostery can block them.

The problem may not be with FF but with that particular site's developer who has optimized the site for a particular browser only. When I click on the first link, and temporarily enable Brightcove player from Ghostery, and then enable flash, it gives me a message in Dutch that "the content is currently not available, please try again soon". This is not a problem with FF but with the website. I do not understand Dutch but browse around the website and see if the developer has mentioned a particular browser to use with the site or the if the website is best viewed through a particular browser only.

For example, in USA, some government websites do not properly work on FF. You have to use Internet explorer with them. It is usually mentioned on the website itself that the recommended browser for this website is IE.

Thanks for the feedback, but you can probably not see it because you're from the USA. The error that I'm getting is caused by some technical problem. I think those idiots have probably indeed wrote the site for Chrome based browsers. This kinda nonsense does make me want to see the death of both Flash video and Silverlight, perhaps HTML5 video isn't such a bad idea.

Don't you need to pay for that? At least that's what I got, and no plug-ins were loaded (probably HTML5).

You may be right about this, but I don't even get to see that, the video simply never shows up. The Silverlight plug-in should normally be loaded though, I don't believe this site makes use of HTML5 video. But the browser is probably not to blame for all of this mess, I think the website developers are probably complete idiots.
