Hi do you still use parted magic? do you keep update it? i know it's about $4.99 is not to much sadly at every update , there is $4.99 to pay is there a list of hashes of their release ? (in the past i found in their homepage ,can't find anymore) and about the program Erase Disk , is only parted magic that include this program? or are there other utility that include erase disk? thanks
I only use the last free version they conveniently removed all traces of (including hashes), because it comes with TrueCrypt and Clonezilla. Useful for my FDE. There are plenty of alternatives for that specific feature, and more if you include suites like Parted Magic: 17.5. No I don't use it anymore. I don't like its pricing scheme at all. I agree that the author's work deserve some monetary feedback, however, considering most of the tools included are free software, it makes more sense to me if the author only charge the end users a one time fee, be it $20 or $50, and give the users lifetime upgrade afterwards.
I'm buying it 2 or 3 times a year. It's nice to have all those tools in one kit. I must admit I have my doubts about it being around long term. Charging for it every time will turn off most potential buyers.
Still using it. I don't download every new version, it all depends on the changelog. Sometimes I've paid 50 bucks for software that would not give me any update in years, or that finally disappeared. I don't mind giving the small amount for Parted Magic when and only when I decide to buy a version. As for purely freeware or contribution-supported software, I think developers often get turned off by lack of contributions, even more so if the product is widely used. That's what happened to Truecrypt IMHO.
Since Parted Magic is open source - licensed under GPL...You can download the iso freely from anywhere where someone has uploaded it. Below is the torrent to download the latest version http://www44.zippyshare.com/v/qVmaDNlz/file.html Or paste the below magnet link into your torrent client.
hi Thanks Gaddester but how can you know the iso is safe ? there are no hashes in the parted maigc homepage
i just download the latest Clonezilla and GParted separately. Also i have things like SystemRescue CD, UBCD, and Hiren's that should have any utilities that PM has and many more. I do have a purchased edition of PM from about a year ago and i use that sometimes too. He raised the price to $9-$10 last i heard, which is fine for yearly but not if i have to pay that every few months
hi about secure erase , it can reset a solid disk it does display it frozen so it goes in sleep mode now my question , can you resume with a usb keyboard or mouse? my second question , is there a tool to delete a file in a ntsf (windows ) file system drive ? a delete without sending to the trash or create a folder like ubuntu
TeraByte Explorer on your IFL or TBWinPE/RE boot media. It can even delete the Windows folder. Which naturally you wouldn't do. But it can.
It should be in TBLauncher. Do you have TBOSDT installed in Windows? C:\Program Files (x86)\TeraByte Unlimited\TeraByte OSD Tool Suite Pro
yes i have installed TeraByte OSD Tool Suite Pro but in the winpe i have not explorer i have a tool to mount an image , and another to view and export files from an image
I can only vouch that the iso is safe because I know the person who originally uploaded it but common sense is required when downloading anything.
Doesn't that come with a lot of KDE bloat? And there is no reason to give any file browser special treatment other than what's already built-in or integrates well.
