The file I'm trying to convert is a 689MB MP4. Tried converting it to AVI. I converted it at a bit rate of 1200kbps. Wondershare said the output file should have been around 800MB which sounds about right, but it ended up being over 3GB and took 3 hours to convert. I'm trying out the Demo and so far I'm not impressed. This program seems to get high reviews, so is there something I'm doing wrong?
I could understand the hardware making it take longer, but why would Wondershare say the output file should be 800MB and then end up 3GB? I'm starting to think this is just another piece of crapware, even if they do charge $35 for it.
I've used Format Factory for some types of media conversion with good results. Look here: http://www.pcfreetime.com/aboutus.php?language=en
Avi is not a format in itself, just a "container", you can use a lot of different codecs such as xvid, etc, and change resolution and so on, which can result in various sizes. For me Wondershare is OK but nowadays I tend to prefer Wonderfox Hd Converter pro which gave me better results in a few situations, it is offered as a giveaway quite often.
MerleOne, I'll try it. HD conversion is really what I need. I'm not sure if Wondershare is capable of converting 1080p. That might be the problem.
