Hi: can anyone tell me if farstone one pro 2015 is problem free and works good for backup imaging or taking an image of my system and restore it when needed? I mean the same thing as macrium reflect. I am using macrium reflect free now and its great, but the free version does not have incremental or differential backup and it takes a long time to restore an image. Now farstone one pro 2015 ( i managed to get a free license from a giveaway) says that it does full retsore of all HDD incl. image in 3 minutes and it does alot of stuff. SO anyone know if it is a safe and problem or issue free program like macrium? Thanks for your advice. Farstone one Pro is great for making a recovery partition as this is the main feature and is solid. Also Aomie one key, offers the same solution and free, but i have some small issues as of late. Use farstone to to make your recovery partition incase of disaster, but still have a backup solution in place for incrementals etc. Also Farstone one supports universal restore to different hardware??
It would be far easier in my mind to just go ahead and buy Macrium V6. Sometimes free isn't the cheapest solution.
Agree with Peter, but with Farstone One Pro. If you have the Paid License use it. I have it installed with Macrium 6 so i have extra protection.
thanks for reply guys. This one is a giveaway license. If macrium has a give away of the pro then I would get it. Right now I can not afford to buy, so giveaway and free are the way to go.

Very slowly in my computer. An Entire Drive backup took four times longer than other imaging apps. I didn't create a recovery partition but it did add a recovery option to the boot menu. FOne.wim in C:\sources. I just installed it, created an image and successfully restored the image to a new, empty HD. Win8.1 (UEFI) loaded. The restore took four times as long as other imaging apps.
Hi Brian! Was this using your dual SATA internal disk configuration that you've used in the past... no external HDDs used to hold the images? If external, what type of connection?
Hi How much did you backup and how long did it take ? How long time did the restore take ? On their home site it says that it should take about 3.42 to restore a 31,8Gb system .
I think that time is for a delta restore - if restoring to an empty disk the time is suggested as 32 minutes.
pb1, It was a GPT disk with 4 partitions... Recovery ESP MSR Win8.1 The Win8.1 partition is 40 GB with 12.9 GB of data. Backup and restore each took 12 minutes. My usual times are 2:01 and 2:43 respectively.
Okej , thank you for answering . 12 minutes huh - that is not to bad and means in theory that a 20Gb system would take about 6 minutes - e.t.c . Thoose 2 minutes times i guess are with Macrium ?
His partition has a size of 40GB, but data only occupy 12.9GB. You need to improve your reading comprehension. BTW, in my test, Drive Snapshot is the fastest, followed by Acronis.
No, the backup/restore times are related to the amount of data, not the partition size. If the partition size had been 100 GB the backup/restore times would have been the same as a 40 GB partition. I was using IFW/IFL in a computer with HDs. In my main computer with two SSDs the restore time using IFL 2.97 is 1:07. The data amount is 23.9 GB in a 40 GB partition. The image size was 12.9 GB (standard compression). Edit... there is a typo error in Post #12. The restore time should have been 1:47 instead of 2:43.
Hi guys Yes of course - thats right . So it is not very fast and i guess it is as i expected - a somewhat pointless app since there exist imaging programs that does it faster and equally simple . This backup and restore business will be totally reformed when the new USB flash standard comes with transfer rates of 5 - 10Gb`s per second . The future looks bright in this area .
