Am I correct in assuming an increment on the base is really just a differential backup. And an increment on a previous increment is an incremental backup?
Thats sorta what im wondering. The only option I have is to do an incremental backup. And it asks me if I want to do an incremental backup on the base or the previous incremental backup. Im wondering what the difference between them is.
It should take less time to create an incremental based on the previous incremental, and the image may be smaller. You can create a chain of incrementals in this way. To restore the image, you need to process the whole chain. But you can also go the differential (or incremental based on the full image) way. It depends on your backup strategy.
