I'm not sure how old this is, but I just seen it on Lifehacker. Anyone tried it?

I've tried Privacy Badger, Blur and Disconnect, but I didn't really like them, I still think Ghostery is the best, even though its maker is a bit shady.

Well the thing is, they work together with advertising companies. So it's a bit weird that they are actually helping to block trackers, and if you want to, you can even share data about everything that's being blocked with the GhostRank feature. So yes, I would dump them if there were better alternatives.

You may want to give Disconnect Me a try.

I'm not sure if this was directed to me, but I didn't really like it. And the new version is bloated.

It is bloated but I feel less so than Ghostery and it's open source and recommend by prism-break.org. I use it on Safari mainly because non-origin ublock sucks.

The one thing I don't like from Ghostery is that it sometimes seems to be a bit slow when it comes to filtering. I've checked out Crumble from AVG on Chrome, and I wasn't really impressed, it felt a bit slow, and there are no configuration options. A bit disappointing considering it comes from a big software company.

The lack of configuration options was a feature not a bug :) We intended it to be as simple as possible and just work. We will some configuration options in the next release.

With these kind of tools, configuration options are always welcome. If you want to make it better, take a look at Ghostery and improve on it, that's my tip.
