I'm relatively new to forums in general , so this may seem like a stupid question .... .... but what does "banned" actually mean ? Most people's status on here says " Registered Member " ..... myself included , but I noticed that a regular poster has his status showing as " banned ". This puzzled me , because I assumed that members could change their icon / avatar and their "signature" but not their status . Don't get me wrong here .... I have no objection to anything that this person has posted , I just wondered how they can post if they are , in fact , banned.
If a member has X amount of posts, then those posts have been made by that member Before that member was banned from the forum. For example. If I get banned now, it would still show that I had posted 6,166 times before I got banned. But it would say "banned" instead of "registered member", "av expert", "polymorphic sheep" or something else.
Interesting point Page42 ..... I was threatened with a ban from another forum because I had started a thread asking people to suggest their favourite banned members . OK , it was a very argumentative forum ..... full of those " I know better than you " type of postings .... .... but it made me laugh
I did a simplified search here using the word "Banned" with the forum's search engine, and although not completely reliable, some Banned member records did result. HTH
I probably got this entirely wrong . I'd assumed , with forums in general , that once a member was banned , all of their previous posts would not be seen.
