Yes, but what we absolutely don't need is speculation mentioning names. That has to stop immediately. Understand!!

Frankly who ever it turns out to be, AV Comparatives looses more in my opinion by releasing this the way they did. They should have know the turmoil it would stir up. Makes it seem like cheap theatrics to me.

I think it is probably best to get it out in the open immediately. If there was any hint they were trying to cover up improper participation, this board would go nuts and AV Comparatives would lose more credibility. At least in the US, we have a saying that "the coverup is worse than the crime."

Or perhaps this forum loses just as much with the suffocation of open-ended discussion.

proves in a way what I have thought for ages:-that most of the tests by most of the so called professional testing houses are more or less worthless and any of the companies taking part could easily provide products for testing that behave differently than those available to purchase by joe public, all the products tested should be purchase anonymously and all testing dates etc. should be random and the vendors not informed so as they cannot manipulate their data bases to suit those dates

Bet all my money on Qihoo since there's a lot of Qihoo hate around happening lately, just check recent 360 Total Security articles on Neowin, there's someone with a lot of (unfounded) anger against Qihoo and also something similar happened here on Wilders in the past.

In the last 360 Total Security news post on Neowin that person claims that Qihoo submitted a different version of 360 Total Security than the version released to public. Today's coincidence? I think not! He reported Qihoo to AV Comparatives and this is happening.

how you think that differences get discovered? we test several product versions (all downloaded from vendors website) and if the results differ, we note it in the report (please read last report for hints; was also in the news already in some part of the world). more details next days (we informed the other labs as well).

I don't know why you can't come out and tell us since, according to you, there are hints in the last report and is news in some part of the world and you have informed the other labs. If the hint is under the 'Notes' section on page 5, three vendors are mentioned. Was it Mr. Green in the study with a candlestick?

    From Casablanca:

Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!

[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]

    Croupier: Your winnings, sir.

Captain Renault: Oh, thank you very much.

Open ended is fine. But opening saying I think it is xzy company without any evidence, isn't open-ended discussion it is slander, and that can carry a high price.

In any event it won't be tolerated.

Sad really whoever it is as we Consumers trust these vendors with our Data and the Protection of such Data, it will cause said vendors to suffer as people are not so forgiving on the WWW.

Well, AV-Comparatives facebook page mentions that it is a free product which narrows it down.

Fact: There is an announcement in AV-C Blog.
Here, some comments are speculations, imo.
Let's wait the next announcement from AV-C.

The way to end all the play-for-pay comments and suspicions is for these AV labs to publish their financials, like how much money they charge each AV company to conduct these tests. Is everyone charged the same, or is there a sliding-scale? I'm surprised there is no financial transparency what-so-ever in this testing business.

I recall Mayahana suggesting something like this a couple of weeks ago, technical detail on how this could potentially be done.

At any rate, honesty is everything. I respect AV-C for coming out with this and for informing the other testing agencies. And I trust that they have done their homework on this as well.
