Freya is the latest version of elementary OS, a design-oriented and open source Linux-based operating system for desktops and laptops. It succeeds Luna which was released in August of 2013." The new release offers Google Calendar support, improved network share support through Samba and more flexible search tools. Is it my imagination, or do you have to pay for it now. I didn't see any way to download a free version or ISO....
Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled with Epiphany either.. I forget which distro had it default a few years back.....
If I remember right, I didn't care much for the default email client either... but that was easily changed. It IS nice though....
