I've been reading comments about current VPN providers, some good, some bad, some fast, some slow. Does anyone know how big the customer base is for some of the more popular providers ? 1) Hidemyass 2) Mulvad 3) IVPN 4) Express VPN 5) AirVPN 6) any others you have information for It seems to me that providers should be letting their paying customers know how many users are actively using a particular server and doing load balancing if required.

Actually, I did search their sites. I was more or less looking for people who are members of the above VPN's and have gained that information by various means or by posing the question to their provider.
OK. That's a lot of information to request. Best would be to request a server status page with users/server. And ask why they don't have one.
