I use FileHippo App Manager The detection is excellent and it updates the software I care to keep track of. Program stats, as of 03/21/2015 Package: Installer, offers no portable version Package size: 829KB Third-party junk: Contains none Disk space usage: Almost 3 MB Memory consumption: About 15 MB of memory while scanning and about 10 MB of memory while idle. CPU Usage Rating: Very low usage Tell us what you use and if you can (But not needed), please provide Program Stats if it differs from other software posted (For comparison purposes).
I do not use any updaters. I like to pick and chose what updates I install. The latest and greatest iteration of a program too often assumes you have the latest and greatest hardware. Also, new programs/updates tend to introduce bugs and issues at an ever increasing rate these days. Best to stay with what works and update when you need a new feature or a specific bugfix. To do this willy nilly is a no no!
I use the download manager FlashGet every day to check for update for around 50 programs (and the list is rapidly growing). I find this to be the best way to check for updates. FlashGet is not specifically an update checker, but you can right click on any downloaded file and there is the option to check for updates. I select all of my downloads, and then get FlashGet to check for updates. If any of the installers have been update it will automatically download them. I also use Baidu's PC App Store and AllMyApps.
I don't use any one. However, I visit several software-related Forums and get informed about updates.
SUMo, it it is the only one, which contains all the software, no realtime, so I run it, only when I feel like for updating.
Same over here, I prefer manual updating, and I don't see the need to always upgrade to the latest versions. Believe it or not, newer versions aren't always better, in some cases they are actually quite bad.
Well SUMo is just a checker, I still need to update manually. The reason are motly security updates, like for PDF viewer, XnView and especially the browser.
None at all. I do all updates manually. I disable any bundled updaters that come with specific apps as well. I don't always find updates to be an improvement and I prefer to choose updates myself.
Interesting piece of software. It does not list too much software, but its suggestions led me to improve my reg tweaks. Thanks.
Yeah, that`s what I really like about it,just the important stuff. Some of the the others that I have tried tend to go a bit over board with updates for programs I forgot I even had or wanted.LOL Regards Eck
