Found this: http://computerforensicsblog.champlain.edu/2013/10/21/working-wickr-part-3/ On twitter I read a lot of people going away from Whatsapp. It seems that everybody has discovered privacy now... Anybody using Wickr here?
I tried Wickr to try and get away from Whatsapp but having to click on each message to view it like snap chat really got on my nerves. Not sure how "Secure" it is though.
Update: If those people use it, it should be secure.. http://mashable.com/2015/03/01/australia-politicians-wickr/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-main-link
I use it. Mainly because everyone I know switched to it - not sure why, I suppose wickr had some good marketing that I missed. Either way its better than most of whats out there (WhatsApp, BBM,hangouts, etc). I am glad people I know are using End-to-end crypto even if they don't know it. Only thing I wish was that it was opensource. I still use textsecure for mission critical comms though.
Its super easy to use which means more people will pick it up and worst case it is better than most alternatives. I mean unless they are forced to backdoor it, I can't see any other issue. I wish source code could be reviewed even if it wasn't GPL or copyleft.
