Why have I just now heard of this? I installed the 2015 version, dual engines (AVG+Bit Defender), it's as light as a feather.

I activated PUP/PUA detection as well. Checking some Youtube reviews, this thing looks like it has a stellar HIPS along with it..

But best of all, this price is remarkably good!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

So far I can't find any issues with it. 6 PC's for $49 for 2 years is a great deal.

That would give every file that enters my PC's FOUR AV engines to pass through. Avira, Sophos, AVG, and Bit Defender.

I've just installed TrustPort. I can confirm that it is using scan engines from both AVG and Bitdefender along with its own scan engine.

The user interface is a bit bland for my linking, but what I really like is that there is the option to be prompted for what action to take when a threat is found. I won't use an antivirus which can not be configured to not quarantine threats automatically. It's nice that there is the option to prompt the user for action instead of denying access to the suspect file. However, what a consider to be a big issue is that for on demand scans there is no option to take action against the found threats after the scan has finished. If you have TrustPort set to prompt every time a threat is found, the scan pauses when a threat is found until you choose what action to take. If instead, you set TrustPort to display a report at the end of the scan, once the scan completes you are shown a report of what was detected but there is no option to deal with the threats. What I would like is the ability to scan my computer without and let me choose what action to take once the scan has finished.

Another issue for me, was that is was slowing down my computer. Maybe, once a full system scan was done, the impact would be less. However, due to the scanning issue I've already uninstalled it. It's nice having Comodo Programs Manager automatically monitoring all software I install, so that I can remove any antivirus software cleanly.

No slowdowns here at all, in fact it feels as light as Norton 2015. I'm seeing literally 0% CPU use most of the time, and have just opened a folder with 11,000 files and saw no slowdowns resolving it.

I don't run full scans anymore, so I cannot comment on that.

I should add that my Core 2 Duo laptop isn't exceptionally fast, and I'm sure TrustPort would perform better with a newer, faster processor. But, I do have 4GB of RAM, and still had plenty of RAM free when running TrustPort, so that was not an issue.

HD speed is crucial, SSD's make a huge difference across every application.

What I like about this app is you install it in a few seconds, and BOOM - it's running. No hassles, no reboots.. It's just done, ready to go.

    I picked up a 6 PC 2 year license for $49.

@Mayahana I'm not using SSDs just yet because I can't afford them. But I do have 7,200 RPM hard drive.

So far so good with Trustport. I have migrated 3 machines over to it. After a day of knocking on it with a test machine, I think I am OK to deploy. What I like is this is basically an old-school AV in terms of having no extra JUNK.. No toolbars, etc. All I see are the basics, and "Antivirus+Application Inspector (HIPS)".. THATS IT! It's good to see products not shoving extra junk down our throats.. If you want the 'extras' they have a more expensive version you can buy, if you want the basics - like the old days - this is the ticket.. AV+HIPS.. Good to go!

But I found I had to disable the HIPS for now. I will need to go through and manually add/remove rules until I can find a happy medium. Out of the box the HIPS blocks things I need to happen, things I can't have blocked, etc. What I was thinking was turning all of the HIPS off except for 'browser' protections. Thankfully the HIPS is powerful, and highly configurable! Default it is a bit too strong for me, and that's on 'normal' settings. It's very lightweight, I have not detected any delay/lag, and things like gaming/streaming are speedy with it installed. Once I program the HIPS the way I want, I am pretty set with it. HIPS in Trustport reminds me a lot of AppGuard with protected zones, and so forth.

I feel pretty confident with 4 antivirus engines scanning everything, Sophos+Avira on the gateway, and AVG+Bit Defender on the desktops. Very potent.

Note: Installation is FAST.. Click it, and in 10 seconds it's installed and ready to roll. No rebooting of machine, etc. Very clean program from the looks of it, and so far it takes literally none of my CPU time. Which I find remarkable given it has real-time protection of 2 full AV engines. I have not enabled advanced heuristics yet, but I will try over the weekend and see if that impacts performance. I just have basic heuristics+PUA/PUP detections on.

hmm, doesn't play nice with scaling, I have a 125% DPI scaling om my 1920x1080 resolution and see how it looks:

    2015-03-19_171920.png

I have emailed their support about the DPI scaling issue. Man I love its interface, exactly like NOD32!!!!! did you notice? Also like the fact that when trying to add exclusions, it displays ALL system hidden files by default regardless of the OS setting, something only NOD32, Kaspersky, and F-Secure does. Norton doesn't show the system hidden files so you have to manually go to folder options, unhide them, add the exclusions you want, then go back and hide them, such a hassle.

Once you go SSD, you can never go back. SSD's even make netbooks come alive. Definitely a worthwhile investment, something that if you save up for over time, you will thank yourself in the end. I can't always afford nice, new things either, but I try to make use of great sales in combination with price matching from other retailers.

So true. I cannot even touch a machine without SSD these days.

I've seen super deals for 128GB SSD's for $29.00 if you watch for them. That's more than sufficient for most productivity systems/laptops. Also you can combine drives on desktops, have a 128 for OS/Stuff, and a normal HD for data drive, games, etc. Still really fast when you do this. You can even fit the OS on a smaller SSD, I have one of my laptops on a 24GB SSD - OS on that, and a 500GB Data drive. Blazingly fast because anything 'important' sits on the SSD. It brings systems alive - as you put it.

Just got a reply from support:

    1) they are aware of the DPI scaling issue and no plans to fix it. (show stopper for me)

    2) you can reinstall the AV as much as you want, once you reach the limit of the amount of PCS supported in your license, they will blacklist the last activated computer to prevent misuse

    3) reply came fast within 40 mins of sending my email

Why care about DPI? You should rarely be in the interface anyway after installation/configuration. Doesn't seem like a show-stopper to see the bottom of some text cut off.

GREAT product with GREAT support, dual engines, 6 PC's for 2 years for $49.. I'd live with some cut off text. :thumb:

Unless this blows up my machines my search for the next 2 years is over. It's perfect.

Think about it.. Every file coming into my systems get scanned by Sophos, Avira, Bit Defender, and AVG.. That's... Remarkable.

    1) I thought it was just AVG + Bitdefender

    2) How does it have so many engines and when I tested it it was light as a feather?

    3) Why don't they participate in AV-TEST/AV Comparatives?

I DO NOT want a URL scanner (Web-Based Malware Protection as they call it). There is no need for it when you have a router/utm, extensions, or even DNS that handles that already. It is pointless, and slows things down. Besides, anything attempting to run would be caught anyway, so no big deal. ZERO performance impact has been my experience with it, which is one of the reasons I am switching my entire endpoint setup over to it.

Trustport having those AV engines, and being light as a feather tells us that the other companies are just not using good engineering behind their products. Trustport took well known AV engines, and bundled them in a machine code product that flies like the wind with zero system impact. To me, the companies that use the same engines and are slow/buggy need to step back, and see why they are failing.

Downloaded on my laptop, it is certainly a lot lighter than the Bitdefender Total Security I had on there before. :)

I'm still not sold on their use of the AVG engine, particularly having read this from a Google dev a couple of weeks ago:

"A couple years ago we caught AVG rewriting the low-level profile data of Chrome users in order to hijack their search engine settings to ones that financially benefitted AVG.

Today I found out that AVG MITMs users by replacing the certificates on SSL connections with their own. When this broke Chromecast and we confronted them, instead of stopping their behavior, they shipped a patch that avoids doing this for Chromecast but continues it elsewhere. With Gogo and, today, Lenovo's Superfish software in the news for doing this sort of intentional MITMing, it should be obvious that this is an incredibly bad idea and can lead to all sorts of potential security issues in addition to breaking things."

Presumably whatever part of AVG is doing that (URL Scanning?) isn't part of Trustport, but still.. makes me wary of having anything to do with AVG.
