    Hi @ all

Using BestCrypt v.7 and presently v.8 for a long time, never had any problems.

Jetico has issued v.9 some time ago.
I wonder, if anyone here tried or is using this new version.
    Are there any problems encountered,
is it recommended to switch from version 8 to version 9?

I use BestCrypt on my Windows machines because I trust it more then bitlocker. They added some nice new features:

For me the main thing for me was the 2TB containers. I would update just to make sure you get any bug fixes. At one point I e-mailed the team and asked about BestCrypt Volume Encryption working with Windows 8 to go. It didn't at the time, but they fixed it and had it work in 2 days. Stuff like that is why I like the company and why you should update. It also cites "Improved security in new key generator" so that is always good too.

I have had no issues on Windows 7 and 8.1 with the latest version. If you do just email their support team, like I said they fix issue rapidly.

Disclaimer: I have no insider knowledge about BestCrypt. I love their customer support and how they treat their customers very well, but I would use an Open-Source solution IF there was one that worked with windows 8 (Full Disk Encryption). BestCrypt is proprietary so do your own research first BEFORE trusting anyone.

    Thank you for replying.

Even tho BC is proprietary code, I hope it has no backdoor.
Never have open containers while online.
Tried TrueCrypt but was not happy with it.
Questions sent to Jetico support were answered in no time and quite helpful.

So, I'll do more searching on BC v.9 whether I need the new functions or not
and how stable it will run.

I highly doubt it has a backdoor. Everything the NSA leaks have shown us basically shows they use side-channel attacks more than anything else. Why waste time and money on side-channels if you have a backdoor? It just doesn't make sense. BC also has an open-source development kit that includes all of their encryption modules and components, not perfect as we can't reproduce their binaries but still decent. BC also has an Android app which I use a lot since I don't root and LUKS requires root.

You can try the trial versions via there site, its pretty good and really the most up to date option especially if you are using Windows 8.1 and want FDE with the main o/s.

I would use diskcryptor or TC or the variants but they only support windows 7 for o/s FDE, bestcrypt then makes sense for win8.1 and 9. You can also use FDE with win 8.1 o/s and perhaps mix in TC into the mix to make use out of the plausible containers feature for even better and more plausible and secure support.

Don't skimp out on the plausible deniability feature from TC(read up on it via the tc manual that comes with tc), I believe best-crypt does not support it.
