I don't like all this cloud based cleaning stuff, looks like marketing "mumbo jumbo" to me, I don't trust it. Here is a review: http://www.ghacks.net/2015/02/26/baidu-releases-first-public-beta-of-cleaner-program-for-windows/
I've been using this for the past month. The only thing I don't like about it is that it stops Baidu's PC Faster from running at startup. As far as cleaning goes it works well, and I prefer this to CCleaner.
No wonder, when it includes freeing memory into the cleanup. It found only 13 kB junk files and 40 MB memory cleanup on my computer. The results and recommendations are identical with PC Faster, unreliable, I would not really recommend it, just my opinion.
By Martin Brinkmann on February 26, 2015 in Software "Remember Baidu Faster, the free PC maintenance program that Baidu released some time ago? It seems that the program may receive a name change in the near future as Baidu just published the first beta of Baidu Cleaner. While it is not clear if Cleaner will indeed replace Faster, it is obvious that both programs share features."
According to the screenshots, it looks like that Baidu Cleaner have more features than Baidu Faster, on its cleaner module.
So, it doesn't harm your computer. The only cons I found is that we can't not take control about the files were removed (no file names, no locations).
I installed on Win7 and ran a scan without any troubles. I agree with roger_m that it's an excellent program. The scan takes only 1 minutes and it's very effective. You should try it.
baidu is flagged by lots of AVs as bad or unwanted and some use trojan to ID it. So unless baidu can fix this, it would be hard to use their products by many people. has anyone scan this hitman pro or virustotal to see if its negative?
No, I haven't. If I use a product and find it be safe, I don't really care what antiviruses say about it.
What do you mean by it stopped Baidu's Faster from running at startup ? Are you talking about a scheduled task ? I ran on Win7 Baidu Cleaner along with Baidu Faster and both programs, appeared on the system tray at startup without any troubles.
It stops it from running at startup. Even when I launch PC Faster and get it to run at startup again, next time I reboot it is not running in the system tray.
The only thing I can tell you for now is that under Win7, both programs are compatible, no conflicts. If you have a trouble at startup with Baidu Faster, you should check your others programs for compatibility.
I know they're both compatible, but Baidu Cleaner removes the startup entry for PC Faster. The only way I could stop this would be to uninstall Baidu Cleaner, or change the registry permissions for the PC Faster startup entry, so that when Baidu Cleaner tries to delete the registry key, it will fail.
You cannot check which files will be removed? If so, it is a big con, imo. I'm used to check files in CCleaner (after analysing) before erasing.
Yes, I know that, but this is a beta version. I can suppose that this feature will be added on the next beta releases.
Actually, not having PC Faster running at startup is probably not such a big deal. Lately it has wanted to remove too many startup items that I want to keep. While it is possible to add items to the whitelist, I would prefer if it was less aggressive about removing startup entries so there were few items to ignore. At least it still much less aggressive than the startup cleaner in 360 Total Security.
Everything selected to be deleted should be safe to delete, so there's no necessity to check the items, but I can see your point.
I think baidu needs to add cleaners for chrome, firefox, maxthon, opera and other browsers and not just internet explorer as it has right now. Try adding more cleaning module to make it atleast as good as ccleaner or baidu pc faster and others out there. Also it keeps detecting some junks but they are not checked and on manual inspection shows to be system related. I think an option to ignore them should be added.
some option and junks it finds are system related or windows related and are you sure they are safe to be deleted?
