    jv16 PowerTools 2014 updated
An updated version of jv16 PowerTools 2014 released. The updated version contains the following changes.
Fix: Product is now fully compatible with Windows 8.1
Improvement: Enhanced the speed and accuracy of the registry cleaning engine.
    Improvmeent: Added the Japanese translation.
The new version’s version number is 3.2.0.1354. After downloading and installing the new version, please open the Help > About window to verify you are running the latest version. Some browsers tend to cache the installation file and therefore you might not receive the latest version but the same old version you have previously downloaded.
You can install the new version over any previous versions of jv16 PowerTools 2014.

I'm aware of this application but I never used it. Considering it tackles quite important system files (e.g. registry, start-up items, pre-installed applications etc.) how safe is this application in a real environment?

Speaking for myself i have never had any issues with this software since it became first available in around 2003 before then it was called regcleaner. Jouni Flemming, the founder of Macecraft Software had from a very early age been obsessed with the registry and still today and his goal is to make the best Windows registry cleaner and utility software there is
Like all things give it a try you may like it :)

Thanks Nick for the feedback. ;-) Registry cleaner is namely one I'm concerned about because there are opinions that registry shouldn't be cleaned at all.

when I tried it 6 months ago, ran a scan and let it clean the registry, Office 2013 didn't work anymore. Everytime I launch an app it would act as if it installing all over again and you can see the installer. Never touching this crappy software again or anything that touches my registry for that matter

I used to use this software but between issues I had with it and more importantly issues I had with the company that produces it, I no longer do.

Forgot to mention my experience with that shady company:

So I was evaluating jv16 Power Tools a while back as it was the recommended Registry Cleaner on Kaspersky Forums. I installed the demo and was about to purchase it, but before I enter my Paypal details, I stopped, thinking, let me first evaluate it.

I installed the demo and cleaned my registry. It destroyed many things in my computer. Many programs would not work properly, a weird settings changed, I had the Games Folder in my Start Menu set to expand as a menu; after the registry cleaning, it changed to not expand but rather, just became a short cut link. Many weird things I can't remember.

So I quickly uninstalled it and went back to an image I created earlier before installing jv16 Power Tools.

Now, everyday, I receive this email from them, even though I have replied to them to NOT send me anymore emails and have placed them on my junk list in Gmail, but I don't know how are they still sending me this crap everyday!

People beware not to ever deal with this cheap company!!!

I have the 2013 edition which I've been running on (2) machines for almost 2 yrs. I run the app after I uninstall a program(s) to capture any remnants left behind. So far I have had no issue(s) with it on neither pc.

I've got you beat but I've shared this one before. The last time I bought an upgrade from them, within a few minutes I was getting a call from the fraud department for my credit card attempting to verify plane ticket and hotel rooms charged to my credit card. I had not used it for anything else in months. Needless to say, that is reason enough for me to not purchase again.

    Hi
I started using jv16 [RegCleaner 4.3.0.780] 9th August 2002 and have used the paid versions since v16 v1.4 [27th July 2003] when Platinum VIP was introduced purchased it. [the offer was and still is a no-brainer [Lifetime updates and can be used on up to Five personal computers] :thumb:

And have never had a problem any version. :)

    Take Care

I saw this report yesterday. Of the 133 products only 34 were used in the benchmarking as the others required purchase before removing the found issues. I find the results to be rather dubious. I find it hard to believe that JV16 does so much better than the competition at restoring performance. I've used Jouni's products on and off for years, and in all honesty I've found nothing remarkable about the registry cleaning abilities of his products, that make than markedly better than other registry cleaners.

When I ran PowerTools X on my Windows 7 laptop using the default settings (which is what Jouni used during his testing) it found very few registry errors. I had used other registry cleaners beforehand, but still one would expect JV16 to find more than what it did, considering how well it do in the benchmarks.

I'm not saying that Jouni cheated when doing the testing, but I do find the results very hard to believe. I will do some testing of my own and see what I find.

Also, when I used the uninstall for program leftovers tool it deleted Windows Installer. Kerish Doctor detected this right away and restored it.

It is always suspicious when a company does a test and its product is rated as the best.

Yeah, I think that was just a sales drive. Another issue I have with them. The product itself is not horrible, but as with anything that cleans the registry, run a backup first, or at least a system restore point, just in case.

I use it for cleaning up remnants of apps I've uninstalled in the "clean my computer" section. I don't use any of the other features. This is the only reason I don't just uninstall it. It has been on my computer for years. I don't delete anything I don't recognize. I'm using the 2012 version and don't see any reason to upgrade.

I have used JV16 for many years but there is something wrong with this company.
Over one year ago, this company disappeared. The word is they abandoned JV16. They continued selling JV16 2014 but all support and communication was dead. They made an older version look like a improved version.
The word was they are were dead. They were a one man show and that man left.
Now this new version shows up. I go to their website and click "Contact" as I am a previous buyer of JV16 and I would like to know what my price would be for the new version. You cannot contact them by clicking "contact".
They tried and failed to go open source. That's when they put their website on auto pilot.
This is VERY fishy. I understand that JV16 is tied in some way to a political movement.
Does anyone know the whole story?

Any change logs? I'd be concerned about any software with this many updates in this short of a time.

I would be very careful with this. They used to always do testing in their beta forum and release once tested very well. They blew away their old forum.
