I have long been android user , and always criticised iphone users for using overpriced crap for stuff that android does better and at much cheaper price .
I have used all sorts of phones from low range to flagship phones and always enjoyed the experience . But last month i bought a 5s for a few reasons and suddenly fell in love with iphone and have decided from now on i will buy only iphones.

I started my android journey from lg p500 [ froyo ] to htc one m8 [lollipop] . I always rooted my phones the day i got it so that i could restore data to the plethora of apps i used . without root that was not possible . Also i liked to tinker with custom roms and tweak the phone to my liking.
As for apple , i never liked ios until version 7 . Till version 6 i always found it to be cartoony and childish. But the moment i saw ios 7 i loved it . And after using 5s for a brief time i had liked it a little , but not enough to buy it instead of m8 .But i was warming up to iphone.
I had used my m8 for 8 months , i was in a shop with my friend who wanted to buy a new phone , i asked the shopkeeper how much was my phone worth right now if i was to sell - and i was shocked that the value of my phone was less than half the price i bought it for [in just 8 months , that too for a flagship phone ]. While the 5s which had launched a long time before m8 , even second hand phones were selling for a lot more .

I decided i would sell it soon before the price even dropped further and was thinking which phone to buy next , all the flagships were getting larger and larger. So i decided to buy 5s.

I had always heard android is difficult to use , and iphone is simple . I found android is simple to use , iphone has so many controls in settings that it is geared towards tweakers more.
The camera is great , i have granular controls which app can use location and background refresh . I got used to screen size in a matter of hours . M8 was slippery , this feels so much more premium and solid in hand . I dont need to root for my app backups , everything can be done with itunes.I was bored of tinkering the looks long time ago so the direct app drawer wasn't much of issue. The sound may not be as great as m8's boomsound speaker , but it was very loud and clear.
Found almost all softwares equivalents i had on android.
The fingerprint sensor is amazing , i can unlock without having to put password every time , its so convenient .I found ios 8 to be more polished than lollipop . also will get better resale value.

Although my phone got stolen after a few days and now i am back to using m8 , i am missing iphone more and more.

    What are your thoughts ?

tl:dr - hardcore android fan converted to iphone fan

Agreed. Also the douchy nature of Apple fans is.. Nauseating.

Work provides iPhones, I hate it, I toss it in my glove box after work, and revert back to my Android immediately. I hate the menus, the store, the lack of configuration. Everything.. iPhones stink.

It's always mine, and work tosses us iPhone 4, then 5, now 6's.. We can't stand them, but they get them dirt cheap, and they are standardized. A lot of companies we work with provide Galaxy S's to their employees, I am jealous. These iPhones are a joke. Also, the mapping is garbage in iPhone, always re-routing needlessly, etc. To be honest, there isn't anything I can say that's good about iPhones - and I have both.

Yes OK, we get it! You hate Apple and even the people that use Apple products. But then please stay out of threads concerning Apple if you can't talk about it. Your childish behavior and attitude stinks more than anything ever produced by Apple, including the iPhone. There is some "douchy" nature and hate coming from some Android users too if you haven't noticed, but I guess that doesn't count in your world. Besides one doesn't need to be a "fan" of Apple or Google because you use one of their OS's or products. I am not a fan of Microsoft because I use Windows!

Starting Apple threads on Wilders have never worked out fine, and unfortunately it still doesn't. It's a shame that the Wilders community can discuss pretty much anything like adults, except Apple.

FWIW, I am not an iPhone user.

The 'theme' of this thread is Android vs iPhone, and someone soliciting (and stating) opinions. The only hostility I see in this thread is your reply.

Yeah and I said my opinion about your way of expressing yourself in this and other threads. But please continue to spread your useful "opinion" about Apple and the iPhone if you like. I don't use an iPhone so I am not one of all the millions of people that you think are disgusting because they use the wrong phone.

"The 'theme' of this thread is Android vs iPhone"

Then why do you only talk about the iPhone that you like so much. You haven't said anything about Android, not even something good and positive. You're clearly an Android user so I assume you must have some kind of "opinion" about Android too. It's more like iphone vs iphone at the moment.

What is in both new Galaxy S6 phones is satisfying. They have 5.1-inch Gorilla Glass screens; the vertical sides of the S6 Edge curve towards the center of the phone to bring its edges within easier reach of smaller thumbs. The super AMOLED screens provide stunning color and graphics at 2560 x1440 resolutions with 577 pixels per inch. Both phones feature Samsung’s new 64-bit, 14-nanometer Exynos processors, and they’re available in five different colors: green emerald, black sapphire, blue topaz, gold platinum, and white pearl.

Another page stolen from Apple’s playbook is in the Galaxy’s 16 mega-pixel, 3456 x 4608 rear cameras and 5 mega-pixel front "selfie" camera. Just as you can access the iPhone 6’s camera while the phone is locked, you can wake up the new Galaxy phones’ cameras by double-tapping the home screen button. The phones also include a fingerprint scanner for security and a heart rate sensor for fitness buffs.

Wireless charging is another new feature on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung claims that a Galaxy S6 can be fully recharged in half the time that an iPhone 6 requires.

There are two new "features" in the new Galaxy smartphones that may not be welcomed by users. Gone from the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are microSD slots (for expanded or removable storage) and replaceable batteries. Some pundits think this is a huge step backwards, but I don't think it will bother most users. The Galaxy S6 can be configured with with 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB of internal storage. The way I see it, if you need more than 32GB, move your photos, videos or music to cloud storage.

But there's a bigger issue, especially for those who are prone to dropping their phone in the bath tub. To make the Galaxy phones slimmer, Samsung also removed seals and gaskets that gave its predecessor (the Galaxy S5) a degree of water resistance.

Say what? My 2 year old LG Volt you can access the camera when it is locked, unsleep it by double tapping the screen or home screen button.

Those are certainly not new features of most phones.

I've use Android and iOS, both jailbroken/rooted, and find myself preferring Android most of the time. I love how much you can actually tweak it, whether it's custom ROMs or BusyBox, although root is required for some more granular controls than iOS.

Without root, Android has its advantages like proper access to the filesystem, a firewall for foreground ads, Llama/Tasker, and more. I wouldn't say I'd use anything exclusively though, I'm very much a cross-platform guy.

I prefer Android for myself but could live with an iPhone (once they did away with the update requirement of installing iTunes.) I setup and support both for a number of family, friends and co-workers.

On a side note, I am sad to learn the new S6 Galaxy won't have a replaceable battery. :( Maybe by the time I'm ready for a new Galaxy, they will back pedal and offer it in the "S7"...

I use Android and my wife uses iPhones. As a casual user, I find them to be functionally on par. However my LG Volt cost $200 a while back and my wife just bought an iPhone 6 for $600+ after the Apple employee discount. Both are without a contract. As long as there is such a huge price difference, I will stick with Android.

Tho not available for all devices, you can backup app's data etc. w/out root by Helium or ADB backup.

One can argue that iTunes doesn't work on all devices other than Windows or OS X, but anyhow nothing is perfect enough to exclusively use one over the other for me.

I tried iTunes backup of app data, didn't work for every one of them either. So really, I don't any good reason for brand loyalty.

I don't know why anyone should care who uses what. Use what you like. I prefer Android but I don't care who uses iOS or iPhone.

I've owned a number of Android phones (I've never owned an iPhone) and will continue to do so. Not only do I prefer Android to iOS, but I can buy an Android phone with reasonable specs for well under $200 (although I can get a flagship Android phone or an iPhone for free on a 12 or 24 month plan), or a refurbished older model flagship phone like a Galaxy S4 or LG G2 for around $200.

The only area where I fell the iOS excels over Android is being able to backup the phone with iTunes and iCloud and then restore the backup to a new phone. You can do this under Android using backup apps, but I have had problems sometimes when restoring backed up apps to a new phone. This is a problem since when I get a new phone I want to copy every app including its data over to the new device.

In India we don't have carriers so buying an android flagship and an iphone cost roughly the same . I have tried using low and mid range phones and I can't use them efficiently since I use a lot of apps and they start to lag and stutter .

The sub $200 USD phones are getting a lot better, e.g. fast processors, 2GB of RAM, and a decent sized ROM.

I think both Android phones and iPhone cater to different demographics. Not to say 1 is better than the other. It's just different in terms of experience, flexibility and freedom to tinker/modify. We all have our own tastes. It's pointless to debate something that is very subjective.

As for price, Apple targets those who are less price sensitive when they choose to place a premium price tag for their products. While it does deter some users from the purchase, it also provides a strong brand name and perception which leads it to being able to hold its value better when the owner chooses to sell.

Android on the other hand has many companies presenting various options which ranges from the low end budget phones to high end flagships. This allows a competitive market in which consumers benefit, regardless of their budget or price sensitivity. Those whom otherwise would not be able to afford flagship phones has at least a chance to own a smartphone.

Ultimately, we need both to exist. The competition is good for the consumers.
