https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/hello/ Just got it this morning. I think it's very simple to use. The video quality is good. What do the Wilders think of this new FF feature? Did you try it?

Mostly negative. The webRTC which is used by this Hello Chat feature may possibly leak your real IP address if you're behind a VPN or Tor. Me? I consider this as yet another form of failure by Mozilla Inc.

Oh! Security flaw? I better not use it then. I got all exited about the new feature. Good thing I checked it out with the wise, experienced and helpful Wilders members, as I always do.:)

Firefox Hello is an in-Browser chat feature that sends metrics to Mozilla and other third parties :isay:
    See:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/privacy/firefox-hello/
I've disabled mine as it did pop-up from nowhere yesterday - Mozilla metrics stealth installs at it again.

    @siljaline ,

How did you disable it? Or have you just removed the icon?

Additionally from what I can see here Opera also supports it.

I give it 2 years until will be removed because they'll notice nobody is moving away from Skype.

I complained to Mozilla via Twitter from which I got no reply as expected.

    Hide the icon.

To disable Hello you can toggle loop.enabled to false on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. Accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Of course, as the newer Opera versions are basically a Chrome clone.

Has anyone noticed Hello appears to create a couple of firewall rules in Windows Firewall? Insane!! I remember how the old Opera installed Unite with it's firewall interference. What do these browser makers think about anymore?

To the designers of Firefox... FaceTime, Skype and Hangouts have it all covered. We don't need Hello!!!!!!!

Will check it out, I really hate Skype, it's so bloated.

Luckily you can block this with Windows Firewall Control 4, and also with TinyWall, if I'm correct.

Thanks for this it worked great. The "Hello" icon was put automatically next to the ublock in the bar when the browser started up one day, so it seems they have the ability to push out stuff even if I have disabled as good as everything from automatic browser updates, metrics and all similar settings.

Before I put loop.enabled to false, 1 day earlier I had already dragged the "hello" icon down into the config with all the other icons, but after I set this to false the icon even disappeared from there and was nowhere to be found which was nice to see.

I didn't use it yet, but I think it is a good idea. I wouldn't use it for talks that require good privacy, but then again I probably wouldn't use any other Internet service for such matters either.

It's a good idea for the sake of overall Browser privacy to disable Hello via the about:config tweak offered in this thread. That way you can't invoke the feature regardless of what you strike in the toolbar
    or otherwise.
