I saw someone saying they could not see this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFvX0svEyNo as they were not in canada. As a curiosity i tried a few canadian web proxies * and tried and still it said not available in your country. I am curious as to why with a canadian proxy it knew i was not in canada.

    * i think that is the term it is where you get a page and enter the url

I guess those proxy didn't hide your real IP. You may want to use VPN provider who have server on canada (e.g. PIA) or use Tor and make your exit node in Canada. But other so-called "anonymous" proxy may or may not work. If VPN nor Tor still dones't work, you need to check those settings.

Some Canadian proxies pass along your address to the site, so it knows that you're not really in Canada. Other Canadian proxies get abused, and wind up on various blacklists, so again the site knows that you're not really in Canada. You need to be using a VPN service that offers Canadian exits, and that manages them well enough to stay off blacklists. Prudent management includes responding promptly and properly to all complaints, and kicking out users that generate too many complaints. I gather that it takes considerable effort. That's part of the reason that good VPN services cost more.

isn't that what they claim not to do?

I tried several of them. By connecting to google through them and checking ip it placed them in US even though they said they were in canada. One resolved to Quebec and even that one,and another in canada by ip check, said the video is not available in your country

Some "proxies" include source IP as a header.

Ones that don't are typically called anonymous proxies.

what is the point of including source IP as a header. Why would someone use a proxy to change ip and have it send the ip in a header?

https://www.bypassable.com/ is listed as anonymous.i was not able to watch the video with that. Said not availble in your country but i was 'in canada' then

    same result from https://www.dontblockme.org/

    Because they didn't know?

If you run a test website, you can just log headers and see for yourself.
There are various blacklists for identifying proxies.
