I've installed Loaris on 5 computers Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 without ANY ISSUES. It detected quite a few "unwelcome" objects on all the tested computers. I'm happy to have Loaris as an "on-demand" scanner that could find "bad" items, missed by BitDefender, MalwareBytes, Zemana, SuperAntiSpy, HitMan Pro. So far, I'm going to keep LOARIS.
I just gave this a try. I cancelled the scan not long before finishing as was taking a while. But I will add that the scan be paused, so that you can pause the scan while you're actually using your computer, so that you don't have to deal with the system slowdown. During the scan, a number of items were detected. There were a few false positives, mostly for program uninstallers, while the rest of the items detected were unwanted programs. I was not impressed by the several false positives. At least the number of false positives was not excessive, which can sometimes be the case with lesser known antimalware software. Due to the false positives I don't think I will be keeping this, and won't recommend it to others. Like @Brummelchen experienced, the scan slowed down my computer a lot.
It is common for software on GAOTD to get a lot of thumbs down (well at least it was when I visited the site daily - I rarely visit it these days), so a 32% thumbs down is not actually that bad.
But where's the fun it that? I love installing software I've never heard of before, and I've never scanned a download before installing it, with the exception that in the case I'm got an antivirus installed the real time protection will scan the download.

I think its a perfectly good scanner....Like any scanner you examine the results and decide if any FP's are amongst them and inform the vendor if you find them....If you don't try it don't condemn it. In my regular say to day downloading, I never encounter any viruses. I come across of lot of uninstallers with adware, and a lot of my downloads can be considered "unwanted" programs, but no actual threats.
Under Google results the Loaris site gets the brightest red circle I've ever seen by WOT. It's a neon florescent glowing red, I swear. Wow.

When it comes to new scanners I'm indeed quite cautious and a bit skeptical. I would stick with the known names. I'm not skeptical when it comes to other software categories.
