No. And I never really used the Start Menu on previous Windows versions either.

EDIT: Where is the option for the people who don't customise their Start Menu layout? Not democratic! =V

Yes I use Classic shell. There are some options that I really like and can't achieve them without 3rd party software.

I prefer Start Menu X to Classic Shell and some of the others I've tried. I also briefly used Start Menu Reviver, which can be very nice, but currently don't use any on my Windows 8.1 tablet - I think I'll add a portable start menu for the rare instantces when I need it. Instead I try to create shortcuts/links for things I use often and pin them to the metro screen (things like Shut down, Sleep, File Explorer that opens to the folder I normally always use, Firefox, etc.).

No I don't need any. I use the Explorer on the taskbar to open my files. And I use the Charms Bar to go to Control Panel. I got no use for an extra software just to use a classic style start menu. I'll use the start menu when it comes implemented and native with Win 10.

    Start8. I've tried ClassicShell but I find Start8 a little more polished.

I'm using StartIsBack+ on both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

While Windows 10 brings back the start menu, I accidently managed to kill it when editing the registry a few weeks ago, meaning that clicking on its icon or pressing the Windows key did nothing :thumbd: I'm glad I saw this poll as it prompted me to install a start menu replacement. I was getting sick of launching software from the command prompt. The current version of StartIsBack+ brings experiental support for Windows 10, but aprart from a few warning popups when installing it, it seems to be working fine.

For some Windows 10 users something like StartIsBack+ will preferable to the standard start menu if they don't like tiles on the start menu. Also, on my aging laptop updating the tiles was slowing it down.

Windows 10 better be more than free, it better come with something else; but I can't think of just what else. Hell there is so many errors and problems. Sitting here with a clean install except all updates and when screensaver comes on there is a malfunction with basic intel hd graphics on win 8.1 clean install (NOTHING ELSE INSTALLED). That is with windows 8.1 let alone all the problems with the updates to it and windows 10.

Change mine to Classic Shell. I got tired of giving Stardock money to use something I could replace for free. Especially after the activation broke.

I don't use Windows 8.1, but I wouldn't really bother unless Start Screen really gets in my nerves.

I'm using Classic Shell too, but have never taken any notice of how much RAM, Explorer was using until I read your post and checked, so can't make a comparison to a setup without Classic Shell installed.

As long as my total memory usage stays under 74%, it does not matter to me much how RAM much any process is using.
