Hello, is there a way to mask my country location on an SMS. What I want to do is, for example, Im in Country A and I want to send a SMS to another person in Country A, but I want them to think im in Country B and the country code of the SMS will show im in Country B. Is there a way to do this?
don't know of any service for masking and i don't think there's such service but you can subscribe to a paid sms service provider, just google it and you'll find a few. also note that there are free services you can use at your own risk. (just google "send sms online for free")
Directly from your already existing number/phone? Probably not. But it might be possible from a web based service which uses its own database of several countries numbers. However I don't know any such service or used one. On a quick search I found this http://www.twilio.com/sms However always be aware that the service will possibly be logging the details of SMS and such info might be passed on to advertisers/trackers. Online SMS is one of the easiest way to gather mobile numbers and sensitive details.
I believe Tropo is the only service which allows you to spoof the number. They are similar to Twilio, but it's not an out of the box solution. I researched the topic a few weeks back and the phone api geeks responded with the above-site, I haven't actually tried it. I don't think Twilio or any of the others let you change it (and I have a couple of Twilio numbers). I think it works in US/Canada only. https://www.tropo.com/docs/scripting/advanced-call-control/callerid-reading-setting
