Strange that Emsisoft isn't tested, they did very well on Q2 2014.

Thanks for posting malexous. The top finishers don't surprise me...it's some of the lower echelon scores that do. Kaspersky, ESET, and Webroot (Three Amigos)...well done!

See Webroot can be tested with the correct methodology well done Webroot with real infections! I like this part: "Level 2 = All threats detected and neutralised / system remediated before or on the first user reboot"

Why can't the other testers sites not test Webroot correct ? Maybe they can learn from this test?

I haven't looked at the others recently I believe the systems are pre-infected still? But with this test WSA is installed before infection using all of WSA's Features and Strengths! When I have time I will have to look at the others to see if there testing methodology has changed or not?

Well WSA is not being tested by them like I said I will have to do some research and talk to some Webroot Staff.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

I've read nearly all methodology documents available for major testing organization and from that I can say only tests which uses pre-infected machine is removal test. Other tests install products on clean machine, and update it except for retrospective test. Then in dynamic test, they visit malicious URL and/or open/execute malicious file (AVC uses only URLs, AVT also uses email threats, and MRG also uses threats from USB), and after each case most organization rollback the system to pre-infection state. All activity are logged and those log are used to determine success/compromise.

The reason AVC methodology can't evaluate WSA is actually in other point. AVC only gives one chance for product to block threats, i.e. if a product don't block threat within several minutes after malware is executed, it will be regarded as failure regardless of whether the product monitors and sandbox the malware.
If AVC took 2nd test just after initial test, then they'll find some threats which are previously regarded as failure are now detected, as WIN now classified those previously unseen files as malware. And if they don't count greylisted or sandboxed state as failure, results will change drastically, though I'm not sure if it is fair enough for similar reason that user-dependent should be degraded.

I wondered about this also. Is the test only dealing with internet security suites that have firewalls, therefore Emsisoft was excluded?

It is a strange rating system - one that marks only one vendor as "Level 1" and all others are "Level 2" or "failed".
I choose not to credit such "assessments"!!!

Interesting test, nice to see Eset is climbing back to the top again. Also HitmanPro did well, would be interesting to see the realtime exploit protection of HMP.Alert in the next test. They also tested MBAM, but not MBAM anti-exploit even though that has been Stable for quite a while now.

"We wish Emsisoft well for the future and hope they can find a lab which consistently places their product at or near the top of their tests - as they did with us."

Sounds like Emsisoft didn't pay MRG to be "tested".

It's a bit strange how Panda Free has dropped from top performer to somewhat mediocre scores...

    Stupid. Ridiculous.

My brother could be Adolf Hitler. That does not make me Adolf Hitler. That does not make my beliefs or actions those of Adolf Hitler.

MRG Chris rolls in, throws out legal threats, makes stupid association-based assertion, and then rolls out like a baby after Charyb stands up to his BS.

He does all this with incorrect spelling and incorrect punctuation.

How is that dude a CEO?
