Hi Simon, there is an error here: DTL_2014_Q4_Home.1.01.pdf , page 19, it says "...were conducted between 11th Nov 2014 and 18th Oct 2014 using..."

    Norton on top.

Looks like they may have used Trend 2014?

Seems like avast! is finally turning for the better. This is the second test where it scored well. Not top yet, but scored very well.

Agreed. I think their new technologies will play out well in 2015.

To be honest, I think all of us are rooting for Avast. Avast was one a program I recommended to almost everyone, those years are long past. But I would LOVE to be able to whole heartedly recommend it again. I suspect 2015 will be a telling year for them as their new technologies emerge, and some others mature. Similar to Trend in this respect. Anxiously awaiting Trend's 2016 beta, where the new tech in 2015 version gets significant upgrades.

    Another stellar performance from Norton.

If anyone at Symantec ever reads these forums - please, have it on sale somewhere and people will actually buy it!

People kept saying Norton was bad because they wouldn't authorize AVC testing.. A few of us here kept telling people different, and the new tests seem to be showing Norton 2015 to have some extraordinary detections. As I noted, the integration of the best features of Symantec Enterprise in with Norton is having a fantastic impact. Also people that keep referring to that 'broken' test from the youtube newb need to just stop.

I agree, it would be nice to see some sales. But if you open a web chat they will knock 50% off straight away.

Norton has always been good. There was just version 2008 i think which sucked badly and all the versions before it were sort of crap, mostly because of the crappy LiveUpdate which usually didn't work more than it did work...

I more or less said exactly that in the 1st thread complaining about the price/not being able to add current days left on licence to new one, problem is folk get a bee in their bonnet and then wear blinkers to anything advising the opposite of their mindset

    Thanks, trying that now.

EDIT: They only offered me $49.99, which is what the website is already offering when you go to it.

I tried multiple times since then. They all basically told me that they cannot offer anything less than the current promotional price. I'll stick with Avira I've got several years purchased.

50% off full retail, so buy the AV+Backup for $40 which covers 10 PC's, since that's not on sale they will hit you with the 50% off offer.

I just picked up a 5 PC license w/Free H&R Block Deluxe+State, which essentially netted me Norton for free.

Sounds like a great offer, but I file my own taxes. I've never understood paying a company or person to do something I can do better. Admittedly, I used H&R one year. It was the year I got $4000 back instead of $10,000.

I usually pay an accountant to do mine, time is money for me. You sometimes reach a point where money isn't the most valuable commodity, it's time. However, H&R Deluxe you do your own, not sure what you mean.. This is the first year I will be doing my own with the H&R Deluxe Software, and that was free through the Newegg deal. (including state filing fee) I was going to buy Norton AND a Tax Software this year, so this solved them both for a measly $49.00...

Oh I see. I thought you meant a service they do for you in the actual store. I did not realize they had a do-it-yourself online service available, I have been using TurboTax for so long. I think that would be a worthwhile purchase for $49, seeing as how I normally spend I think $35-50 with TurboTax.

    Thanks for the clarification.

H&R Block Deluxe is actual software you can install. It functions like Turbo Tax, but according to some folks - they like H&R's product better. But essentially it means Norton was free since as you indicate, we both need to purchase some tax software+state filing fees this year anyway. Happy to get Norton for free, and I am shocked they are offering this. But H&R apparently is footing the bill for it.

I have H&R Deluxe installed on my PC and ready to go for January 30th.
