I was appalled that such a thing happened. But not surprised. Apple apparently scans through your music collection and deletes non-conforming music without your permission. More specifically, if you had/have music purchased from a competing service they remove it citing security reasons. Has this happened to any of you?

And furthermore, if they do that, what's to say they don't analyze every single file that's ever passed through your device, whether it be photo, music, document, ebook, video.. ? And archive everything you ever put into their cloud?

This is one of the reasons I dislike cloud and DRM. I don't pay for stuff that is not under my control (that probably makes me one of the last dinosaurs that purchase their music on a CD :) )

Not at all. I buy nothing but CDs. If I want to rip them to something else, I can choose the format and bitrate I want.

Not at all. I'm a CD buyer as well.

DRM is nothing but remote control enforcement of a rental agreement. If it *is* a rental, then say so, and charge me rental prices.
