Is there a technical reason why web browsers don't reveal the ip address of websites ? It seems to me this should be an obvious security measure yet even firefox doesn't have a way to see the ip address of the current site. I have to use a separate tcp viewer tool to do this.

FYI. While its' true that Firefox doesn't include it in the browser, there's an add-on for that very purpose:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ipvfox/

I installed it awhile back, and the add-on works as advertised.

Thankyou so much, I must have missed that one.
The others I tested all used an outside lookup to resolve the ip address which was relatively useless from a security point of view.

RockLobster, you're welcome! Hope the add-on works for you as it does for me. Take care.
