My general question: Does Paragon Partition Manager update the MBR when it moves a system partition from location a to location b on the same hard drive. My specific question: My hard drive is divided into two primary systems partitions, and one logical data partition. Partition D for Win 7, partition C for Win XP (active partition), and partition E for data. If I delete data partition E and move partition C to that location, will the software update the MBR to reflect the new location? Also, would I be better served using clone software to move parttions around? http://www.4shared.com/download/H5VirPehce/dsk0partitions.JPG?lgfp=3000
I would follow the image route: create a backup image of C:, delete both E: and C:, restore the image to the unallocated space after D:. This can be faster than moving C:, and you have a backup available in case something goes wrong. The MBR should be adjusted automatically, but I don´t know what would happen if you use a special or customized MBR, or a multi-boot scheme.
