I am a relatively recent user of the Chromium browser. I normally use Ubuntu 12.0.5 LTS release. I boot from a USB flash drive and then execute my post boot initialization customized environment setup everyday. My scripts setup the latest release of Adobe Flashplayer as follows: /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so Then my scripts setup the following symbolic link to Adobe Flashplayer (above) the In the directory, /etc/chromium-browser/customizations as follows: /etc/chromium-browser/customizations/libflashplayer.so -> /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so It ran (a youtube video) the first time I tried it, but the chromium-browser seems to tell me now everytime I run it that Adobe Flashplayer is not installed. Note: I typically download and install the tar.gz version of Adobe Flashplayer and install it via command line commands so that Firefox includes its own symbolic link in the user profile .mozilla/plugins which contains the same symbolic link you see for libflashplayer.so above. This works everytime in Firefox. What do I need to do to correct this problem? -- Tom
If it's actually Chromium and not Chrome you're using, then you may have to use the Skunk pepperflash method as described here: -http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-pepper-flash-player-14-0-for-chromium-on-ubuntu-14-04-ubuntu-13-10-ubuntu-12-04-and-derivative-systems/ That's what I used for Chromium on my Ubuntu-based desktop (Lite 1.0.8 ) and it works fine. Note this installs the PPAPI (out-of-process) pepperflash version of Flash.
On Trusty Tahr you should be able to add the Pepper Flash to Chromium by downloading this from the Software Centre. I don't know if it works for earlier operating systems.
I never had to do anything special. If you select third-party software during the install or install the adobe plugin afterwards, it works. Mrk
Hi Mrk, I suppose not selecting third-party software during the install is why it didn't work for me. As for installing the adobe plugin, it was already installed, and chromium has not worked with it installed (for Firefox profile in Linux Ubuntu 12.04.5), except in the one instance I cited initially in message #1. -- Tom
