I've got a Dell laptop with a 460 GB old hard drive with 3 partitions (system, recovery, and OS).

The drive itself works, but I'd like to transfer/copy the partitions to a 320 GB Seagate Hybrid drive.

I resized the original (lots of free space on the OS part), and actually backed up the disk and then restored the partitions (Paragon won't let me restore the drive because it still thinks it's a 460 GB drive even though the partitions aren't that large).

But it seems it is incapable of restoring the Recovery partition?

I was reading around and it sounded like some Dell recovery partitions are encrypted NTFS and only Acronis can be used?

Granted, I tried this with Paragon Disk Manager 12 (just bought 15 and will install it tonight).

    Thanks!

Use backup to VD. Select the option "Process as raw" for unrecognized partitions. In this way, the recovery partition should be backed up correctly.
