Is anyone here using ESET Internet security products?. Personally i am using Smart Security, and i love it. It's super lite on system resources. I can't even tell it's running in the background.
Super light? ESET? used to be.....now they're the heaviest out of all security products.... their HTTP scanning cripples any internet connection, makes videos you try to watch online stutter and keep buffering endlessly.... and has a very heavy footprint on the system But hey, if you feel it's light! then great! it's your system, use what you feel happy with
The question is how long ago you were using ESET?. I have started their products this year and no issues at all.
Since 8 years........The best version was NOD32 Antivirus v2........it was the lightest and most secure........then v3 came.......then v4 was still light....then v5.......bit heavier.......then v6.......slightly heavier but was ok........then v7 and 8......simply unacceptable by any standards..... now what's light to you might not seem light to me.....it's all about how we use our systems and I as a professional performance tweaker and perfectionist, can notice the slightest slowness to my machine..... but again.......all that matters is if you are happy.....then who cares what I or others say....enjoy your ESET smart security....... to me.....I have a 5 user / 2 year license that is collecting dust now since when I install ESET NOD32. I feel like I downgraded my internet connection and my laptop specs........now ESET Internet Security is another thing. that's even heavier I would never dare to go near that thing.... just my 2 cents worth
Maybe this article ~ Removed Link. Site Not Recommended By Wilders. ~ will make you think again about ESET products.
same here eset became very heavy imo i could not stream or play video without it buffering all the time. streaming was stuttering a lot as well. otherwise it was not to bad but this video play back drove me nuts. and this was not just on this one computer so do not go and say it was my system we run eset on more than 30 pc's and this is the results on all of them all different no two exactly the same. video would play for a few seconds, buffer, play again for a few seconds, buffer etc etc etc
I always let ESET know when I have a problem. If I had performance issue I would report it to them right away. I suggest you guys do the same, if they don't know about it then they can't fix it. @Mortal Raptor Continue to work with ESET on your issue here please to hopefully get it sorted: https://forum.eset.com/topic/3579-stuttering-in-streaming-videos/
i have in the past a few times and the last time i was told they could not reproduce the issue this was a few months after v7 came out i have seen this issue since v6 and just cant deal with it personally anymore. otherwise i LOVE ESET i wish they would work on lightening it up some i would go back to eset every time if it was as light as the good old days of v2
And I can't reproduce your issues either, but if I could reproduce your issues then I would work with ESET to get this sorted for you guys, but I can't do that, only you can.
@zfactor https://forum.eset.com/topic/3404-eset-v8-smart-security-causing-very-slow-upload-speeds/ And this issue do you still have it? Like I said in the thread if you have a slower connection like 10 any drop will be harder to see (as it is much slower to begin with) than if you have a 100+ connection like you do. I really hope you get all the issues sorted out.
no lol i have a VERY VERY fast connection i have a 150/150 fiber connection no where near 10. and yes i still have this issue. i do not have eset installed right now though to do further testing at the moment ill try to test more this weekend i have a VERY busy week at the moment.
For those who are having issues with video streaming, it could be the website it's self. For instance YouTube is one of those sites that is having a problem with buffering. Also it could be other Internet security products causing an issue.
LOL I know that, but I have 10, and so it would be harder for me to discover any significant drop in speed as it is much slower to begin with. 140 to 20 is a much bigger drop for you, than let's say 10 down to 9 or 8 for me. Do you understand my example now? And "superssjdan" that also have a 150/150 connection said that he does not see any drops like that. So not sure what to make of it. It would of course be good if anyone can reproduce it and work with ESET on this to hopefully get it solved.
How about reviews from IT professional. http://community.spiceworks.com/product/28286-eset-nod32-antivirus
I am using Smart Security from v7 continuously. And never faced any issue. v8 doesn't add any weight to the system. Windows v8.1 64 bit here. Able to buffer videos with out any issues or load sites instantaneously. Only times i see the issue with slowing down the internet connection, i had to restart router (not the system ) once in 2-4 days.
its every website not just a few.... any video playback is terrible. again i love eset and really hate to say this but it is the truth. no other security software installed tested on a fresh windows 7 install without ANY additional software install at all only windows 7 main drivers and updates. nothing else. since i switched my personal laptop to avira i do not see this issue at all not even one time.
i take ALL online reviews even those with a grain of salt. doesnt matter what anyone else says its MY experience that matters to me.
I agree to zfactor. The downloadspeed is a tasteless joke with installed ESET v8. I´ve a 150 fiber connection and with installed ESET this speed breaks with up- and downturns down to ~70-90 mbit. With v7 there weren't these slowdowns, as I remind. So I´ve deinstalled ESET and my 3 year subscribtion is lost in reverie on my main PC in the moment (lucky with AppGuard and Sandboxie). On the other PC´s (childrens) I´ve installed the v8, but there the breakdown of speed is not as noticeable, because their PC´s are standing in other rooms with medium WLAN-Connection. This problem is reproducable to any time. Installed ESET, breakdown, deinstalling ESET, full 150 mbit on downloads.
