Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn review - No rainbows

You will hate me today, more than the usual share, that is. So, on the agenda, we have a horribly negative review of Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn 64-bit edition, unsuccessfully tested on a laptop with Intel graphics and SSD and quad-boot configuration, due to severe problems with the display, filesystem and missing repo content. In simplified English, a total fail. Enjoy. NOT!

Wow! 0/10 - has that ever happened before? I'm really curious how Kubuntu will perform in your upcoming tests (although I'm not running it anymore).

It's hard for me - but I'll wait I won't upgrade my wife's notebook to Utopic anyhow.

 

With v14, Ubuntu has become unusable

 

Happy I stick to LTS.

 

Urethric Unifail lol! Oh dear, someone must have fed the Ubuntu gremlins after midnight again. I take it this release is more dystopic than utopic then?

I've found thru time that the .10's are usually bugfests compared to the .04's and LTS's. LTS is usually the way to go..

 

Short review!

Have to agree, 14.10 is a bit troublesome. I did an install on a Atom processor NetBook. All was well for a while, then weird things started to happen. For example shutdown rebooted instead of shutting down. Shifted to 14.04 LTS
